Im sorry dude starting in this post I will type way slower. But the problam with my chars is not them. I thought of them from scratch. In fact Rirue is like no one you ever seen. I cant seem to describe it. This will be my last post for awile but i'm sure I'll get it down by then. Sorry about the clich.

Having original characters is very good. But not being able to describe them is bad. RPG creators are storytellers. Remember that it doesn't matter what the plot of your game is and how badass your heroes are later on if the beginning of the game isn't any good.

Edit: I'm downloading it. I'll tell you what I think after I play.

Edit 2: Um. I got attacked by a plant, some guys that weren't in my party had a conversaton, and I got totally destroyed. That's an... interesting way to start the game.

Well aside from apparently fighting the first boss as a random enemy with only one party member, things were decent. My review:

Programming: NO BUGS! Well, no bugs that I found, which is good enough. Having no bugs is good.

The sub-menu is also very good, even though I don't quite get how to use Illyana's skills there. But it's well programmed.

Graphics: All of the maps looked very good. The forest, the town, the overworld map. Lightning effects and spashy noises when I stepped in a puddle were very nice touches.

The problem with the graphics was the poor spelling and other text issues that other people mentioned. I can understand the spelling, maybe, but some things were just weird. Like how Blizzard is capitalized but fire was lowercase. Spending a few minutes polishing that sort of thing up would really help.

Music: a lot of secret of mana and final fantasy VII. Meh, kind of
boring. Go forth and steal more original midis!

Characters: Honestly none of them really seemed to have any personalities. They all pretty much sounded the same. Rirue was interesting because he lost his memory, but then he got it back real quick and became boring again.

Being able to run around as Illyana on the world map was interesting. Normally you don't play the girl. But it quickly went to Rirue being the leader of the party, which is weird because, far as I can tell, he's just a random tag-along with Illyana and Kiran's mission and isn't important to the story.

My favorite hero was Kiran, just because he was good at combat. My favorite NPC was either the owl or the guy that yelled out BARREL TIME!!! for no apparent reason. Or the talking cat. Come to think of it, the whole "purple world" scene was pretty humorous XD.

Story: It's cliched but it's not unworkable. Some more details after the intro (i.e. when we've met the main cast) would be good. I'll admit I don't know what's going on at all with the beginning of the game. Kiran and Illyana are running from... someone? Why? Am I supposed to know what's going on?

One of the things that bugged me was the fact you never told me where go. Like, they decide to go see the mages. Where the heck are the mages? The characters in the game know where the mages are but I didn't. Eventually I found them but something along the lines of "let's go visit the mages, who live to the west of town" would have been nice.

Battles: Having all the enemies visible on the world map was nice but that's about the last thing I can say I liked about the battles. Mainly it was just attack attack attack. A lot of the normal enemies had lots of HPs and annoying moves (really strong poison and confuse, ugh).

The diety limit break system, while well-programmed, didn't really add much. It just made my attacks stronger when weak. But I was already losing the battle anyway so they didn't help much.

None of my skills seemed to do anything except damage with the exception of cure. And on that note, why the HELL couldn't Illyana cast cure in battles? She can cast it outside! But it's a pretty weak cure spell anyway - healing 80 HP when characters had over 600?

The first boss had a LOT of HP and poisoned all three of my charactesr down to 1 HP before I spammed diety after diety to kill it off. I even had a few antidoes to cure the poison but it just poisoned me again.

None of the enemies ever dropped any items. And you couldn't freaking run from them, ever. I tried to avoid as many fights as I could.

Overall: It was interesting. I don't feel like I wasted my time playing it. There is some potential there for a great game. I can tell you're good at making interesting systems. If you clean up some of the questionable dialog, give the characters more personality, and make battles more enjoyable this could really go places. Good luck.

PSH!  Who needs midi's when you own the sound track to some of the best games (music wise)?  I'm making a game that has NO midi files whatsoever. :P  it makes the music much more enjoyable.(except for music from aria of sorrow, there's that irritating crackling in the background.)   :D

People that want their game size to be under 100 MB. Distribution for my game has been a real problem due to size in the past, and it doesn't even contain a single mp3 file. Remember that not everyone on the planet has the best internet connection.

*pulls self outta hole* that's kinda true I guess.  No wonder my rakion keeps freezing up (I changed the music around.)

I didn't personally realize that MP3's were that big. hm.

well, even so, its a small sacrifice.  MIDI's are lame.  they sound so computer generated. (and technically are.)>_>

If you plan on using mp3s and wav files, keep 'em short (I use Audacity to chop up and edit sounds a lot), and always zip the suckers when you plan on distributing them. If you're lucky, it should drop out of the enormous MB range.

You do have an option... but a lot of people will just about hate you for it ^^ You can compress the sucker down to almost nothing but it may take nearly a day to compress and then on the other end the same time to decompress (maybe not that bad you don't need THAT powerful compression) But other then downing the music you have that option.
