I see the other details ZKX, but big eyes have always been a prominate feature on my artwork. I like using big eyes because they are more expressive. So I understand all the other details, but big eyes are something people will have to deal with in my artwork ^^

Guh, why did I know that the good ol' "Its my style so stfu" line would rear it's head? Big eyes are fine, they are more expressive, but from a profile view, they are not as wide as they are from the front. With the size they are currently at in profile, it would be impossible to fit two eyes on a face from front or 3/4.

I can understand where you are coming from, but I enjoy using big eyes on my artwork. It's how I've done it for ages.Plus, I've seen plenty of anime where women have breasts the size of circus balloons, but yet no one seems to care at all. I mean, it would be nearly physically impossible to have such a skinny waist and breasts like that without being in extreme pain, I would think.

Big eyes are part of my style. If you don't like the fact that my artwork utilizes big eyes, then I humbly suggest you avoid looking at my artwork.

This isn't a physically possible reason I'm talking about, this is a "It exists in 3D space" reason. No one cares that women have big breasts, because the shape and size of breast are able to be maintained the same at various angles in a 3D space. With the size of the eyes and their placement from a profile view, to rotate the head to a 3/4 or front view would make it very not-good (too tired to recall correct word). When you draw, you need to remember that you're trying to create an object in a 3D space on 2D paper.  The object needs to have the ability to be drawn from front, or back, or top etc.

So again, for a profile view of a face, the eye is too wide and reaches too far to the back of the head.

By the way, the "Don't like at it don't look at it" line only works if I randomly walk into your room and start criticising it while its sitting on your desk, or pull it out of your photobucket and email you to bitch about it of my own accord. When you post it up on the net in a topic of your own accord knowing people are going to see it, that doesn't work. Sorry.

Well, I use that line freely because if something you consider is an eyesore, why keep looking at it? It's pure common sense that if you don't like the sight of it, you stop looking at it.

I refuse to continue this arguement with you. I don't care if I am added to your list of idiots or what have you. I draw how I draw, and though I admit I accepted the numerous flaws happily as criticism, you're taking my rejection of your criticism of the eyes too personally.

Some guys draw women with huge breasts out of proportion. I don't like it, but I accept it. Accept the fact that I draw people with bigger than average eyes and move on, because I don't care how much you piss and moan, it wont change.

And as for 3D space on 2D paper, I agree with you, but I think you should also consider the fact that, that isn't all drawing is. Drawing is symbolic and is meant to not only mean something but to convey a sign or realism as well, and have the body in corrent proportions. While that clashes with my eye problem (I personally don't see it as a problem, but you obviously do), I consider bigger eyes to be easily overlooked, but I don't like the fact that women are drawn with bigger breasts just so some guys can fantisize about them. Big breasts don't make good anime. Big eyes are in anime. Take Rurouni Kenshin as an example. Kaoru Kamiya's eyes are not much bigger at a profile view, but they are bigger than normal.

Everything else, yeah, I know, is flawed and is being fixed in my future works. But the big eyes are staying. And honestly, if you don't like looking at my artwork because of the big eyes, then don't. No one is forcing to to click the link and glue your eyes to my artwork.

I've ranted long enough and said my peace. I'm done with this arguement.

ROFLMAOZORS

good enough....deviant art.

Seriously though....ZKX is right....If you cant take criticism dont ask for it.

He gave you areas to improve on.

And his 3-D placement thing fall under the category of Composition.

Big eyes are a great style...But they have to be Spacially accurate.
Look at the pic, and then imagine it rotated to the left, so its looking right at you....Look at those freakishly huge eyes. Its like, when the fat girl on myspace takes the picture at a special angle to make her cest look bigger and chins dissapear, giving the illusion she is a beers-hot chesty girl instead of a beast of Ill breeding.

The curvature and placement of the eyes of the lines could be thought out better.

You've gotta learn to take a raping in stride, when it comes to criticism and art, and for the love of god, dont put devian artists on a pedestal. Theyre horrible. Most of em.

I imagine there is some good ones, and even some shatty one that can make a nice lame gay unicorn anime princess....but seriously.

You're making it sound like hes assaulted your character man.

If you wanna get better, youve gotta proverbially "take it in the A$$", as it were.

Now I know how ya felt when I was being an *** about my photography ZKX--sorry 'bout that. :P

As for the dA comment, Gemini's got a point. About 75% of them are fairly pretentious.

It works the other way though too: don't give criticism if you can't take people not taking it to heart and changing everything exactly how you say it should be.

Some things could be improved but not everything has to change. If he changed absolutely everything to how it "should be" then what's the point of art at all? Why not just take a photograph of someone and be done with it?

Thank you, SaiKar. You apparently see some point in my ramblings.

I don't do what I do because I'm trying to capture 3D on 2D paper. I do it because it makes me feel good and I'm proud of what I do. If I want realism, I'll take a picture. If I want a mess, I'll break things...Well, maybe not that extreme. I do things how I do things because, well, that's how I do things. If I say I do something, then I do it because I do it. It's kinda confusing, but then again, so am I. ^^

I wont change something I like because someone doesn't like it.

I like the eyes on the woman. The other flaws pointed out, I addressed and will pay closer attention to. The eyes, for the final time, will NOT change.

That may be your opinion, but merely because I refuse to follow a tip about a simple eye that you seem to have a problem with doesn't mean I'll be a bad artist.

Get off the high horse and realize thatjust because you have a lot of posts doesn't mean you're some big shot. It merely means you had the time to make the posts, meaning you have no life. I'm done ^^

Oh wow, that was the dumbest thing I think I've heard you say. You really think that I'm saying this because I have a lot of posts? No, I'm saying this because you're an idiot that posts art not looking to improve, but to boost his ego.

4,000 posts in two years hardly means I have no life, so please, stop being an idiot. By the way, when you say you're done, it helps if you don't keep posting. You just look like a hypocrite. kthxbai

Well it's just fun to agrivate you.

At any rate, I've said numerous times that I have accepted the other flaws and will fix them in the future, you just obviously seem to skip over those parts.

I will fix all the flaws except the eyes, because I don't see them as flaws. You're just mad because I wont take everything you say to heart. I honestly don't care what you say about the eyes. Next mod to look at this thread, please lock it.
