The Alpha Force

This is mah game; the superhero RPG that's been in development for quite some time. It follows the story of a college student named Akira, and how he goes through his adventures to eventually emerge as Chisoku, masked defender of justice! With the help of a rather helpful agent, Alfrod Grant, also known as Bluhman, the two start up a superpowered fighting force in the crime-ridden Roosevelt city, and grow from there!

Features:
- Highly detailed battlecharsets and a variety of battle options.
- Ability to tweak your characters attributes and stats using the Trait system.
- Motorcycle driving! (Coming Soon)
- Obstacle dodging, jumping, and other acrobatic on-map shenanigans.

Now, for some really detailed stuff:
The city of Roosevelt; one of the cities on the eastern shores of the US, within the state of New York. The year is 2015, and Roosevelt is suffering from the same crime that has plagued it for the last several years. With the rise of organized crime in the city, murders and robberies were not uncommon, but it was in winter of 2008 when Roosevelt was greeted with the greatest threat it had ever had; An escaped genetic experiment known as Noyau IV. The experiment was an attempt to make a human astronaut that could withstand an intergalactic voyage to Andromeda. To do this, they had to make, from a strand of DNA, a man that was immune to all sorts of hazards, and would not be driven insane by the long wait that the voyage would pose. However, scientists could not perfect the formula to make the man. The experiment  resulted in a genderless human, who had the ability to asexually reproduce himself. That was only the first two of the problems the experiment had. The entire creature had a liquid nature, making it able to shape itself in any sort of form, and not only that, but it could and would consume anything it came into contact with. Quickly, the experiment chewed right through the walls, and soon after the creature escaped from the lab it had been created in, Noyau ran into the street, devouring whatever material matter it could in it's viscous body. No policeman would be able to apprehend this creature; it would take much more than that.

Then came an agent of the AUB, or Agency of Unusual Beings. The agent bared the formal name of Alfrod Grant, but was known to most as the Bluhman. Though he had not the proper equipment to defeat, let alone capture the awry experiment, he did know how he could defeat the menace. Contacting one of the scientists that had made Noyau, Bluhman discovered that the creature could digest anything but Dracite, a dangerous, radioactive material, which could have disastrous effects on the human body. Knowing this, he gathered the proper equipment he needed to work with the Dracite, and built several Dracite bullets for his gun, which he would use to destroy the creature.

By the time Bluhman was ready, the amount of Noyau that had been created asexually from the original had skyrocketed. Bluhman had to be quick, or the entire city could fall to the destructive force of the Noyau. Bluhman went all over the city, using the Dracite to kill the creatures. It was during the fight that Bluhman discovered that the Noyau would actually vaporize when they came into contact with the material. After a tedious extermination of the Noyau, the remaining noyau were forced to flee to the outskirts of the city, and down into the sewers. With that, the city was saved, but still in grave peril. The remaining Dracite could cause incredible damage to people if it was not removed immediately. Soon enough, cleaning crews were sent out to recycle the Dracite for future use if the Noyau were ever to return again. By 2009, Roosevelt city was back up on it's feet, and greatly inspired by the battle that had taken place between Bluhman and the Noyau. The following years saw the birth of many heroes, and many villains...

The following is a list of functioning characters within the game; they have their moves, animations, and stats all set up.

Name:Akira Stone
Age:19
Height:6'1
Weight:198 Lbs
Eye color:Mahogany
Hair Color:Black

Chisoku is a cyborg. Though, he did not want to be one. He was taken off of the streets of the city by the Ayus Clan and was to be turned into one of their many cyborg savants, mindless, and made for nothing but destruction and deception. However, the clan was betrayed from within, and a sympathetic surgeon who was working on Chisoku allowed him to escape before the surgeons were able to replace his brain. Chisoku escaped from the base he was being held in, as well as the surgeon that had helped him earlier. The surgeon told him then that he was in danger, and would need powerful allies to make sure he was safe. With that, Chisoku went to the Police Department to meet up with Bluhman, who would properly train him to become an effective hero.

Through his operation, Chisoku has gained both superhuman speed and strength. He can run at a maximum speed of 56 Miles Per Hour, and can leap 20 feet into the air. He is also capable of benching 223 pounds of weight, and is also more durable than a normal person. However, the surgeon he was saved by also had given him another power through a neural vaccine. This vaccine ended up giving Chisoku incredible reflexes. These reflexes, combined with his acute hearing and powerful vision, allow him to be very conscious of what might be around him, and these reflexes give him the ability to move himself out of the way in time. In addition to his powers, he was given a variety of mechanical items by Bluhman. Such things include a thermal pistol, supercharged motorcycle (capable of maximum speeds of 412 Miles per hour), and his helmet, which serves as an information encyclopedia and gatherer, and also is one of the strongest items in the entire world.

When he's not fighting, he assumes the name of Akira Stone. He is a college student at the local university in Roosevelt City. Born in Kyoto, Japan, and raised in San Diego, California, Akira moved to Roosevelt city to seek top class education in computer programing. Akria is a very studious man, and is interested in literature as well as math and science. His demeanor, in some cases, can be quiet and respectful, and in others, bold and goofy. However, he is a very stubborn individual, and tends to go to great lengths to get what he wants, even if such a cause is ludicrous.

His costume consists of a blue and white metal body suit, adorned with cloth gloves. He wears a matching motorcycle helmet with a shaded visor, and golden crest, which is put over a silver mask to conceal Akira's appearance. The entire outfit is topped off with a yellow scarf, which is bundled all around his neck.

Name:Alfrod Grant
Age:41
Height:6'5
Weight:155 Lbs
Eye color:Blue
Hair Color:Dyed Purple, Naturally blond.

Bluhman was the original hero who saved Roosevelt City from the terror of Noyau. His experience comes from a long partnership with a skilled inventor known as Rick Selphen. Together, the two went all about the world, going up against mobs and gangs all over the world. Rick was able to invent all sorts of weapons and gadgets that Bluhman could use, and Bluhman used the gadgets to apprehend the criminals. However, in 2008, Bluhman was confronted by the AUB. Somewhat of a prototype to the Alpha Force, AUB's members were people with singular special abilities that could help fight against villainy. The AUB, after seeing how well Bluhman had handled fighting villains without the aid of superpowers, asked if he would like to become an honorary agent of the AUB. Bluhman accepted, but when Rick was asked the same question, he refused. Rick was a timid man, and he didn't want to put himself in the front lines. With that, Rick and Bluhman split up, and Bluhman was left without any of the gadgetry that Rick had given him. Bluhman retained nothing but his trusty 9MM, which he would tweak many times, and would load with all sorts of unusual rounds to give him advantage in battle.

Bluhman, by all means, is a normal person. His only weapon is his pistol, which hits with a furiously high caliber, and is able to penetrate through six inches of solid metal. Experience has given him instinct with machines, allowing him to use any sort of vehicle or tool with ease. In addition to his gun, he is very well toned, able to bench a good 143 pounds, and able to sprint very quickly. Bluhman also drives a black car, which is well armored and can drive quite fast.

When not fighting, Alfrod Grant keeps an eye on the work of the Police Department of Roosevelt City. Originally, Bluhman was born in San Francisco, California, and went all around America in his crusades to end crime. Bluhman has a no-nonsense sort of policy about everything. When on the job, he will take no sort of smart alecs from his teammates. Despite this, he does have a marvelous sense of humor, and he's also a nice person, and will forgive people if they make petty mistakes. He's no fool, however. He will not let anyone take advantage of his nice personality. He also has great knowledge of Roosevelt City and it's crime groups.

When in uniform, Bluhman wears a black suit. The suit is very stylized, with pants that flare out at the bottom, a coat with trailing back, and a wide brimmed hat. He's also got a goatee on his face, and is often fiercely protective of it. Upon the suit, he wears a AUB badge, which he wears with great pride.

Name:Elizabeth Hyral
Age:17
Height:5'9
Weight:128 Lbs
Eye Color:Green (Third eye is Yellow.)
Hair Color: Red

Tri Emerald was a girl born with a third eye. Because of this, she was seen by others as a weirdo, and made her a feared and abused outcast from the rest of her peers. By the age of 12, Emerald had discovered her ability to use the third eye to project her thoughts into her surroundings, giving her great powers. When she had abused the power in high school at age 14, she was expelled, and was abandoned by her parents. Left on the streets, she was almost invited into the legions of the Fractured Helix, a malicious gang of mutant humans with incredible deformities and powers, when she was taken in by Bluhman, and accepted membership into the Alpha Force.

Emerald's third eye gives her great power. She has the ability to move things with her mind, fire mental projections, capable of great physical damage, and to create shields with her mind. Her mental abilities also enable her to flight. Her only limitation to her powers is her levels of confidence and hope in her powers. Aside from the powers offered by the eye, she was also physically toned through training in the Alpha Force, and is now able to sprint at speeds of 11MPH and able to bench a good 92 Lbs.

When not fighting, Beth often keeps things in order at the Alpha Force Base. She has a great sense of organization and style, and tends to be very precise and decisive. She is very shy, and does not particularly enjoy talking to people who classify her as a freak. She's quite quiet and tries her hardest not to draw attention. Though she was expelled from her school, she still is being educated by Bluhman, who is able to teach Beth what she needs to know.

Her costume consists of black tights with green designs on them. She wears leather gloves and boots with matching designs, and also wears a silver utility belt. Her tights also have an orange jewel emblem on them.

Name:Orsted Di'valestn
Age:Looks around 26; Actually around 212.
Height:7'6
Weight:400 Lbs
Eye Color:Dark Blue
Hair Color:Brown

Diamondgard, as he claims himself to be, is an earth knight, sent from the core of the earth to end the threat of the Noyau that had recently started showing up in his underground civilization. His powers are natural for his race, but are severely amplified by the jewel he bears upon his chest. Especially his endurance is amplified by this said jewel.

Diamondgard comes from a race known as the subterrestrials. The subterrestrials evolved from Neanderthals that retreated underground in order to escape the bitter cold of the world. Thousands of years, they lived down there and evolved into creatures of great strength, durability, and intelligence. Diamondgard is a physical powerhouse, being able to run at speeds of 51MPH, with his huge legs. His legs also enable him to incredible feats of leaping, allowing him to jump 1 mile into the air. His strength is outstanding; he is able to bench over 9000 Lbs. His body is also able to take up to 7200 atmospheres of pressure. Without his jewel, his power becomes much more limited; he can no longer leap any significant height, is able to bench only 389 Lbs, and his body can only take 225 atmospheres of pressure.

When not in combat, Orsted is a solemn and silent person who is unfamiliar with the ways of the humans. His English is very rough, and he tends to only speak in single words. There have been cases where he's completed entire sentences, but often with great pauses. He takes things overly-literally, and also lacks a sense of humor. He also seems to lack common sense, and usually causes great destruction by accident. However, when it's required that he needs to figure out precise statistics, such as where a rock might land on the ground from far above, or how long it will take for a bomb to go off, Diamondgard can generate a precise awnser within seconds. Such phenomenons are due to the way that Orsted's brain had evolved in an entirely different way than that of the human brain, focusing more on logical thinking than social.

Diamondgard is massive, wearing a blue and white battle outfit, which is reinforced by heavy metal plating on the hands, and feet. Unlike some of the other heroes on the team, Diamondgard's outfit is largely void of Utilities.
Is that whole explanation the game intro? If it is, it seems awfully long winded.

Other than that, this game looks really great :D Good job so far.

Nah. The intro is very minimalistic, actually. Just that you're Akira Stone and you're going to Roosevelt City for education purposes.

IMO this doesn't compare to Wolfs Gaze.  But from what I played so far, it is a solid game.  Has all the techniques you've used before and still has that Bluhman edge to it.  i'll def. play it again once you release another demo.  :)

I don't have the time for a full review, but I gotta say this is a VERY cool game. It has some of the best dialogue I've seen in a good while. It's got some nice music and pacing too.

The cameos were cool too, specially the guy with the hat.

Er, what guy with a hat? Do you mean the weird thinking man in a blue bowler? Cause I don't know where he's from.

EDIT: Oh, you mean the bum, right? Yeah.

E2: Well folks, you know you've failed when you've got a playable demo available to the public, and yet only a whole total of six people download it in the span of 3 days..

Unless everyone is really busy this week for some reason. If so, then the whole thing makes more sense to me.

Er... Okay. You can do it so long as you don't make them larger than the size of one charset.

I Just made them a bit darker so they don't pop out quite as much..
Not much of a difference, Regardless, you can use all sets for slight variations if you have alot of cars on the map.

I'm getting a bunch of errors (I don't use 2k3), but it doesn't look bad from what I saw.

You should change the title music. It's too good a tune to be used for it. If you're going to be using it in the game, hearing it at the title screen would be awkward IMHO.

Sadly, you're gonna need the RTP to play the game. And it's only small snippets of RTP. Don't worry, though. I'll make sure I try and include the only ones of use.

Alright. In terms of music, which do you think defines the character "Chisoku" described above better, or is just plain better than the other?

Song A (His current theme.)
Song  B

And yes, OW, this will play a part in determining the new title theme.

EDIT: Shoot. You're gonna get up against some fierce security from my links. Just press the link that says "Click here to listen to/download the requested file."

I have the RTP. I didn't want to bring up limitations in this thread, as I'm sure another exists somewhere that could help me. But the files need to be in the same directory or something. I'll get on that.

You'll have to excuse me, I didn't read the long description, but after reading Chisoku's, I see I should have. The premise for the character is very innovative and leaves the door open to a wide variety of situations and development.

Listening to the themes...

Mind you, this is strictly my personal preference.

The current theme sounds too active for a character. It sounds like a battle hymn. Like Locke's from FF6.

You could, of course, give him 2 themes. One when he shows up to save the day (The current one,) and another which focuses strictly on him. I'm guessing he'll have some identity crisis down the line?

2nd.
I never realized Metal Man had such cool music. It's a gem. Very straightforward and pleasing to hear. If there were an important supporting character who comes in to assist to everyone's surprise, you should use this one for his theme.

Just my abstract stuff. Both are good, but it depends what you're going for. I don't think I can suggest one over the other.

EDIT: I'd like to throw something together. Either way, that Metal Man has me inspired.

I played a part of it, untill you have to find those elite guys from the Fractured Helix...

The game has potential and some funny lines("Are you peeping on her?" "Just slightly"....lolz. And of course the bum with the hat xD). But I think the battles are a little bit to hard, it could be just me, but I almost always die in a fight(except if I fight one guy)...

I think it's very cool how you use the 'Reaction'-thingie...when you have to press left, right, up or down. It's pretty cool, when you get caught by Stopwatch and brought to the lab, you'll see a robot and you'll have to press down. If you fail then, you have to do it aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllll over again because it's game over...Again Stopwatch, again dialogue when you get operated, ... That's the part I imported the game in RM2k3 so I can skip that part :p.

Anyway, I like the way this game is going, keep on the good work ;).
