So I just played it a bit, and it's not my cup 'o tea.  Sorry guys.  There's like no story...  Plus, with all the effort I'm putting into CD I don't think I would do too well.  Sorry 'bout that.  :/

I could try this. As long as it isn't too much work. I'm already working on the community game and my project.

It's practically no work. I can see you getting it done. I don't see why people keep saying it's too much work. You can make it work if you want to, like DragonBlaze, but for the most part it's pretty much throwing together an extremely short (I mean measured in minutes short) game segment.

As for the story, well... there is one. I mean, it starts out pretty slow, but there's some nice plot twists along the way. At least I tried with what I had to work with...

There is a story, though its not that big at the start of the game. Starting in chapter 5 (I think) the story starts to develop a bit more. In my chapter (chapter 6), I mainly worked on progressing the story, and actually the story pretty much shifts during my chapter, and it ends with an 'opening' to a much more complex story if someone developes it.

So yeah, not too much of a story right away, but it grows a bit more tworeds the end of the demo, plus the story shifts in such a way that you could easily develope a deeper story in later chapters.

aboutasoandthis, I'll send you the link. You don't have to worry about really making that much. One of our chapters is just a single map, so you only need to add as much as you want to. But please, play it through to the end before you decide not to go one with it...

Okay I've started playing and so far I'm on Bluhman's chapter.

Would you guys mind if I edited the cutscenes to give it some "story?" I can see where Dragoon and Linkforce are coming from. Remember in a game you have to do something exciting from the get-go and I have a few ideas.

I wouldn't mind, we should also consider adding an intro to at the end, but you should make sure you get the permission of the person whos chapter you want to add cutscenes to before you add them. I have cutscenes in my chapter, but if you have a few ideas on some to add, go ahead.

I suppose I wouldn't mind, but I honestly don't see where you would add cutscenes about the story. There seem to be enough. Really, there is no story in the beginning, and I think adding more about the story at that point would conflict with the story that develops. Really, DragonBlaze wasn't kidding when he said he left it very open (he sent it to me by accident, so I played it). I think the problem is that there aren't many chapters left and the story is just starting to get involved. If the last few people can't pull off completing the story by then, perhaps we should consider recycling and making another 10 chapters? Just a thought... though I don't know how many people would be interested.

I think due to the length of the chapters, there isn't really a way to make a lengthy, detailed story, which is why I prefer it as it is right now. That and the fact that these grandiloquent openings with stories of the past and whatnot don't really impress me; I personally like what we have. I'm not trying to be defensive concerning everyone's story criticism, but I just feel that only playing up to chapter 2 and then saying the story isn't good is a bit of a hasty generalization. I mean, it literally takes less than 10 minutes to reach chapter 2. How much could possibly happen that's fully developed and interesting?

Maybe "story" was the wrong word here. I'm not really talking about dialogue and backstory. I'm thinking "exciting events." Seriously, nothing happens until Chapter 2.

Red Fox, I really really want to add a little intro. Maybe a Chapter 0? Of course, this will only come after I finish the game. Of course I'm going to stay in the boundaries of the story.

Oooh, ok that makes a lot more sense then. I see what you mean now. Hmm... it'd be cool if you somehow made an interesting lead-in to him being lost in the forest without making it a really big deal (i.e. he was on a quest for the Holy Grail). You get the picture. :p

I'll try not to make this a Spoiler. I'm on DragonBlaze's chapter on the last minigame. Jesus this game is hard...at least for my tastes. I had to kindof cheat to get to the end of it. I guess everyone has their own ideas.

I will say that DragonBlaze stat balancing is excellent. It just felt natural. I haven't decided if I want to add anything besides my chapter yet. Now back to the game..

w00t, I played through the game at least 4 times to try and get the stats and stuff to be right. It was kind of hard to do since In my game, I only use stats 1-100, and I use my own algorithms to determain what they do and stuff, but I'm glad it turned out good. Leveling up should be easy though since I most of the enemies give alot of experiance points now.

One question (you can answer it in a PM if you want). Basically I'm wondering if the minigame lagged at all or if you found any bugs or anything like that

It lags horribly. Don't worry about it, it's a problem with my personal computer. We have an even slower processor since you gave me your CBS demo. My dad's been meaning to get a new one. It actually took me 12 tries to beat the minigame.

I'll put more detailed notes about what I've done in the game, but I've actually changed a bit of the gameplay. I made the healing items and spells a little bit stronger. There are a lot of places in the game where you can get stuck from lack of healing options. I mostly added a feature where the Defense command gives you a small, random percentage of your health if you use it. I'd say it gives you maybe 30 HP? It made the game "feel" more fun.
-btw the change are easily removable.

Gah, well I think I can fix the lag, even for your comptuer. It lags cuz it updates a few hundred lines of coding every .0 seconds, and since rm2k3 has to convert every command to something the computer can use, it's slow. I can change it so that it updates every .2 seconds which in turn will reduce lag around 5 times, however, it will require redesigning half the system :(

I'll try to work on it though.
