Internet: the RPG
« on: September 07, 2007, 01:46:19 AM »
the story: Vlad is bored. he is in his hardrive laying his feet against the Desktop. all the sudden he hears of cockroaches outside on the keyboard. he knocks em' dead, then goes back. it is here when he discovers he is bored. so, he goes online. he still discovers he is bored. so, he heads off  to destroy the king of spam and the pro phisher!

(this is an idea for a short-but sweet comedy adventure, non-profit, just to have fun sort of thing)

the characters:

Name:Vlad Shadeu
Age:Unknown
Hometown:Charas space station (but travels often)
Base Class:Mage
Description:Vlad is a simple computer avy. he is representative of me. he uses magic, plain and simple.

(possible character, need permission first)
Name:Izuma Havok
Age:unknown
Hometown:Vinca Nexus (furcadia realm)
Base Class:Technomaster
Description:Izzy as he is called, hangs out with vlad quite frequently. considering his muskrat form is his primary, he doesn't seem to change as much spritewise when he leaves the area. he is similar to vlad, but his magic has a little techo-base in it, giving him powers like Delete and XD.

Characters wanted!

charas rep (playable). preferably someone well known.

someone to run across Charas Space Station on fire.

someone to be acused of flaming the above.

someone to man the station

other Charas characters

someone who doesn't want to be in the station, who has a myspace or youtube (need many of these)

Custom systems
(not official yet)
area based training. depending on what area you are in, you learn different skills. furcadians learn more techy stuff and earthy skills, as it is a user-alterable community and quite natural-like. in the charas space station you learn more healing and fire-based attacks (although this place will be almost encouter free except the colisuem).

sprite morphing. the area you are in determines your art style and battlesprite (most facesets stay the same, though)

(any ideas for easily creatable yet decent custom systems?)

Worlds:
Charas space station:
a spacey, technoey, realm. i don't know who mans the forums, but there is a command center at the front of the ship. the forums is just a simple hangout area, serving PUB(pub) styled bytes(food) the conflict here is that you gotta keep someone from destroying the station, as he is on fire (some random idiot flamed him a bit too badly)

Vinca Nexus:
the all-natural furcadian area. you meet izzy here. it looks as physically identical to the actual furcadia as possible (the sprites however will be totally different) here is where you fight against a whole troop of corrupted digos.

Myspace:
the ever so huge city, Myspace is basically filled with homes. Phisers run rampant here, and it is your job to stop them. i am considering making Tom the character you are trying to get here, but i need permission from the real deal.

Youtube:
the hollywood of the internet.(i'm not going to reveal the character you are trying to get here until i have her permission) all the houses look like small TVs. your objective here is, as of two seconds ago, unknown.

if you want to help, post here. my MSN is thebigvs@hush.com . i need artists in particular.

EDIT: oops! can someone please move this to a better spot in the forums?

Currently, this seems too "meh" to be honest.  I think you should add more internet related things to the game.  Not websites, but the way that the internet functions.  Right now it seems more like a generic RPG with locations named after popular websites.

By the way, I seem to remember reading that Tom is simply a figure head that the creators of MySpace parade around to make the site seem more down-to-Earth and likable, and has nothing to do with the creation of the site.  Oh well, your choice.

Perhaps something that resembles the way that people protect their computers from viruses etc. with various software, and become infected if they don't.  You need to buy "upgrades" to increase your characters' stats, and also things such as spyware protection or your characters get really bogged down.

Also, CBS and CMS.

Tom was originally the dude in charge I thought, but once it was sold to Time-Warner its left as basically the g-mod run by multiple folkes I thought.

But yeah, make the battle system have something to actually do with the game. I remember having an idea for a game in a gambling world and the system had slots and coins for attacks.

CMS = Custom Menu System

It's easy if you ignore the default battle system (DBS)

As for the latter question, look above.

If im not mistaken, this seems like a sort of rp or forum gaming thread to me. just something that came to mind. I pretty much just ate 50 dollars worth of steak, so im a bit hazy as to what "reality" Entails.

on the web, where you spend your time effects how much you know about what and what you can do.
Furcadia, for example, is a place where you can program your own areas and stuff, it is rather complicated.
thus, you learn controllish skills, status skills, and such.
DETAILISH EDIT:
and, not all things have a way to think of a character. on furc i am a small mouselike thing with a cape, here i am Klaus incarnate. thus, the sprite morph.

don't have a single clue how to work CMS and CBS.

accuse 'Drayson' of flaming. he notorious for it at heavengames..

also, if you need a n00b, use 'shock_trooper'anold identity of mine, or 'super_jedi7', the epitome of n00bishness.

also, you need a gaming community. either heavengames, filefront, or ign would do.

Is it just me or does this paragraph make no sense to the point of insanity?!?

Also, good luck with the game 'n stuff. Be aware that putting in real people requires additional spriting.

Ha ha ha.....
Didn't you post in one of lilsniffs' threads about not taking his game seriously because he's proposed too many?
This seems like the generic RPG full of silly little jokes that only the maker considers funny. Usually these are destined for failure.
But yeah, branch out from the little forum/game/whatever things you've got. The internet is a really big freaking place, man.

Building off of a little of what Phayre said, unless other people have commented that they find you a funny person, your game won't be funny.  You may find it funny, perhaps a few of your friends will chuckle, but most comedic games often come across as lame humour.
