Sprite Edit--I need swimmers
« on: September 20, 2007, 03:15:22 PM »
Hi, everyone.
I've got these two characters who will be swimming at certain points in my game. And by swimming, I don't mean heads and arms out of the water like in the Pokemon games. They'll both be fully submerged.

I've got both of the characters built for the walking parts, but the swimming is driving me up the walls. If somebody could find it in their heart to edit them for me I'd be extremely grateful.

It would be the sprite of the boy in the green shirt and suspenders and the girl in green without the hat I needed done. Thanks!

You're going to need to post a non-jpg version of the image. If you do that, I might be able to make one.

I feel stupid asking this, but can you suggest somewhere I can host a bitmap and keep it that way. I've tried three times with Photobucket and it keeps on converting to a JPEG for no reason.

And thanks for answering, by the way.

Most sites don't accept uploads of .bmp files

you can open it in paint and save it as a .png file so that there's no "quality reduction" for file size issues. .png files are also accepted more widely than .bmp's as far as hosting goes i believe.

Thanks for doing that for me. Next time I will use imageshack if I don't remember to convert it into a .png
I still feel a bit slow about all this though. Thanks to everyone for clearing things up for me.

Well... The problem still remains you know?

The JPEG format smoothen the picture so it becomes useless in the rpgmaker games unless you want a creepy green aura around them and a mashed head that resembles those of RE4 to the PS2.

So you need to save it as a non-JPEG and then post it here. Saving a JPEG as a PNG/BMP/GIF will not solve the "aura syndrome", try again.

That is what I was trying to say by writing "'quality reduction' for file size issues". In any event, you explained it much better than I could.

I understand now. Thanks for being patient with me while I got that through my head.

Okay, now to see if I've learned the lesson and did this right...

A good programm is "IrfanView"  with this you can convert 24-bmp into png  (256 colors) without any color changes.
