My anti-hewlett packard (hp) Campaign
« on: October 05, 2007, 03:25:55 AM »
I have decided to start an 'anti-hp campaign', I call it the AHC. I am starting this due to recent computer troubles that make me want to discourage EVERYONE from buying ANY hp products. HP is 'thought' to have good products? But they are no better than any other brands out there. Their cameras suck, they're printers are ok, but there are other brands that are just as good, but cheaper, they're computers are nothing special, and their custumer service sux!!!

I bought an HP computer from ebay, it was a referbished computer, so I wasn't worried about the quality of the product at all, because hp is supposed to be a good brand. For those of you who don't know, referbished means that there was something wrong with the computer originally, so it was sent back to hp to be fixed. This was obviously not the case, because the computer didn't work when I recieved it. I looked on google, and there was a lot of other people like this.

I wasnt too worried, the computer came with a warrenty, so i thought HP would fix it. The night I got it, I talked to someone from HP on the internet, and after troubleshooting a bit, they said they'd sent me a box so I could mail the notebook back to them (they pay for all expenses). This was not the case because a box was never sent. A few days later, I called HP, and talked to a lady, she wouldn't send me a box though, she insisted that I try some more troubleshooting stuff. And after none of it worked, she said that she'd send me some recovery disks to try and fix it (although my hp notebook already had all of that). She insided that it was just software problems, which it CLEARLY was not, since I refomatted the hard drive, and nothing worked then. When I would try to install windows, it would crash system into a blue screen. I tried multiple versions of windows. Plus I ran a memory test and all my memory was corruped. But still, she said that i needed to try these recovery disks first. She was gonna mail them to me.

I never recieved any disks, so I chatted with another hp guy, and he said that my first order for a box went through, I then recieved an email with a status on it, and he said it would arive in 48 hours. I wait 24 hours, and the status on the box was that it wasn't shipped. I talk to another hp guy online, and he said that he would move it up to higher priorities and that i would recive it in 48 hours or less. 24 hours later, the box still isn't shipped, I call hp, they said that the order didn't go through, and I should tell them to reorder the box, and then i got connected to their dispatch people, and they said that my box would arive the next day. It didn't.

Today, I chat online again, and the guy said he would move it up to higher authorities. So heres where I get mad. Anyway, I threatened that if my box wasn't shipped with a confermation number within 24 hours, I would report this to the 'Trade and Consumer Protection Agency'.

Later I called hp, and I was finally able to reorder a box! As I was setting up the order, they said that they were having problems with their 'tool' and they'd call me right back after they got it working. They didn't call me back... So I called again, and I seriously went through at least 6 people to get to the right spot, and I finally got to order a box. I don't know if this one will come or not.

ALL THIS TROUBLE WAS FOR ME TO JUST GET A DAMN EMPTY BOX!!!

I'm kinda hoping that this box doesn't come, because then I will file legal actions against the company. The trade and consumer protection agency is a wisconsin based agency, and my family just happens to be good friends with the chairmen of that agency. And this agency has the power to revoke hp's rights to sell their products in wisconsin.

Anyway, I am going to continue to go anti-hp until hp proves to me that they arent completly incomputant.

So my fellow charas members, join the AHC and fight back against HP!

Horror stories come from every company. I don't think there is any company that I haven't heard at least one similar story about.

My printer/scanner/fax/copier is an HP and it has never broken on me and works perfect. My dad has had his HP desktop for years now, still works fine.

And by the way, getting pissed off over a broken computer you bought on ebay and then blaming the company just looks retarded.

The broken computer is only partially the problem, and its not the part that I'm really upset about. Yes, it was from Ebay, but it was referbished computer still in the box, so no matter where i got it, it came from hp and wasn't altered at all from when hp sent it out. But being referbished, hp was supposed to have fixed the problems with it before sending it back out, but they so called 'fixed' this computer, and then sent it out not working.

But anyway, that stuff happens, whatever. What I'm upset about is that their inability to handle sending me an empty box, or repairing my computer in general. If you think about it, what goes into sending a box? "Ok, we'll send you a box, give me your computer information and you're shipping information, and we'll  take care of it". You'd think that would be all you would need to do. I went through at least 20 people, and spent more than 5 hours talking to hp (probably more), and in a week, I still didnt get a box.

Ok, heres an update on my problem. It seems hp is mocking me now. So in order to reorder a box, I had to cancel my last order. A few hours after I canceled the order and set up a new order, they shipped the box from my CANCELED order, meaning that I can't do anything with the box if/when I get it because its from the canceled order. Again, if they were at all intellegent, they could see that the order was canceled, and not send the box out, OR if they were good, they'd send it out, but as my new order.

So when I get home, and have a box, I have to call hp again, and see if they can uncancel the order  _sweat_

Did the ebay product say HP was the one who refurbished it? It could have very well been "refurbished" by the owner and put back in the HP box.

When my laptop broke down my parent called gateway and we gpt our box within 2-3 days and got the laptop back within a week and a half. And hp kinda does suck, cause my printer decides not to print or scan things whenever it feels like it.. -.-;;

I don't remember, but it was still sealed in the box, AND the product lable on the bottom of the notebook had an R printed after the model name, meaning it was a referbished computer. So unless this guy packeged everything back in unopened bags, plus made a new referbished sticker to place on the bottom of the notebook, it was HP referbished.

OMG, ok, so I have this box sitting right next to me now, but since they told me I had to cancel the order and start a new order, I can't send it back in this box, I have to wait for a new box to come, which will be identical in every way except it will have three differant numbers on it. So yeah, they can't reopen my last order, or put it in the system as my new order or anything.

I'm thinking about mailing this box back to them anyway (but empty). Cuz they're gonna pay for all the shipping, and since its overnight shipping, its gonna cost them another $20 to ship this empty box to themselves, not to mention shipping a new box back to me.

I've never liked HP.

Not Dell either, I think I'll just grab an off brand and save some cash.

Back when I worked at an office store, I always recommended HP printers just because they were popular, but I never owned anything HP before this. (and I never will again). If in the future I need a printer, I'm getting a lexmark or an epson, if I need a computer, I'll build it myself, if I need a laptop, I'm getting toshiba, basically, the other top brands besides HP. If Im spending a lot of money on something, I want it to be a name brand because they're usually more reliable.

My HP printer sucks, and Dell has the worst customer support ever. But such is the way with these massive computer companies.
