This has happened to me a few times. That's why right now you've reminded me to back up my latest game on to an SD! Thanks! Yeah, I lost some great old games that I'd made in the past.  Just wait around, sure somebody can help.

This has never happened to me at all. The only thing that I experienced way too many times, was the Map Tree Corruption.

I will recommend to do the same procedure as with the map tree, only thing is that this problem seems to be something with the program itself... so before doing the same as the map tree, uninstall and then reinstall RM2k3 (BACK UP YER GAME FOLDERS AND FILES FIRST). Once you have done this what you have to do is: Open RM2k3, make a new fresh project, see how many maps you had in yer game and make as many blank maps in the new project as you had in yer game. When you are ready, close the new project, then open yer old game forlder, copy ALL of the files in it, BUT, RPG_RT.lmt (I think, it might be a different extension) file do not copy that file. When ready, go to RM2k3 >>>>>Project>>>>Open Project and open the new project you just created. Everything should be back and hopefully that nasty black screen will  be gone forever.

If you do not want to do all that cos you are feeling lazy. Then try to back up yer game, uninstall RM2k3 and install again. Then put yer game folder back in the RM2k3 directory and see if it works...

Damn that blows. And no you do not need to put the same names or settings, since the settings are already stored in one of the files that you carried over from yer game, to the new, project. But let me ask you, does this happen with EVERY project you try to open besides this project you are currently trying to finish?

I take that as a yes. Then, if it happens with all yer projects, I would recommend installing a different version of RPG Maker, a different translation. That might be the problem.

No, just a different English version. I think there were two done, the original and then an update. As for the link.... google is a beautiful thing.
Keep in mind, it may also be your computer deciding that it doesn't like you anymore.

Then I have to say his issue with the maker, is one of the strangest things I've heard about, since RM2003 supports MP3....O____o

No, not if you put the files at:
D/C:Program:RPGM2k3:RTP:Music

I believe that it will screw it up. You could however put them at:
C/D:Programs:RPGM2k3:GAMES:Project1:Music.

That is just the project and not the entire tool.
