Quite simple actually... Square gave him a new form that might just remind you of another character in another fighting game...
But you can see the resembles in the outfitt if you compare it to the guy in the back of the Final Fantasy 1 remake logo.

Vincent, FFVII style not DoC, needs to be redeemed somehow. Hey, Turk Vincent was in Ehrgeiz, why not?
I don't think Locke is as essential a charater to FFVI as, say, Terra. If a main character from VI was represented, it had better be her.

I just checked it up and I must say that I think they failed on Zidane's hair... His face kinda' looks like Penello in FFXII...

Kuja looked good though, Sephiroth.... Yeah, well, he is just Sephiroth, already killed him a couple of times in KH so I won't feel the raging urge to fight him again with his AC suit.

Sry for the double post, but since someone insulted squares story writing skills regarding garland, i have studied garland and intend to prove he is a brilliant mind beneath the helmet... i present to you... Garland: the true story (attached)

pic 1- the light warriors have excellent motives to save the princess
pic 2-"Warrior: That fortress appears nigh impregnable."
         "Mage: Yes. It's sure to be filled with many traps and pitfalls. we must be prepared!!!:
pic 3- The dangerous dungeon crawl to garland's room.
pic 4- "warrior- hmmm.... that was easier than expected."
pic 5-Garland shows his true mettle with witty wordplay "i will knock you all down!"
pic 6- Garland strikes his battle pose.. it's on!!!
pic 7- Garland is defeated, but he has knocked black mage down!!!
pic 8- in a valiant last stand, garlands minions attempt to confuse the heroes with witty wordplay.

In conclusion.... umm........ I WILL KNOCK YOU ALL DOWN!!!
