Hey guys. I have a project im researching for, and I came to a dead end here. I know that embalming fluid consists of about 5-29% formaldehyde. I also know that in order to embalm/preserve a fetus, you would need about a gallon of embalming fluid. Now my question is how many grams of formaldehyde would be in that 29% of a gallon?
To be blunt I need to know how many grams of formaldehyde it takes to embalm a fetus using one gallon of embalming fluid.
If any of you are wondering, I'm designing an ad against the use of aspartame in soft drinks.
Nothing more.
At all.
Go on now.

Can't help you, but I can warn you, Formaldehyde smells weird, pray that you don't have to work with it constantly.
I've had to dissect the same cat for the last five weeks, and the next four at least.

Okay i dont plan on preserving any fetuses.
Im just supposed to make an ad agaisnt the use of aspartame. Aspartame digests into formaldehyde, so I was thinking of making an ad sayin that theres enough formaldehyde in the aspartame in a diet coke to embalm a dead fetus.
Which would be a kick-*** add, but I need my facts first.

To answer the question you need to know the density of formaldehyde. I don't know it. Since you're the one doing this little project, you should find it.
Once you have that, 1 gallon is about 3785.6 mL. Multiply 3785.6 mL by the density of formaldehyde (which should be in grams / mL) to get how many grams of formaldehyde are in a gallon. Then multiply by 0.29 to get how many grams are in a gallon if it's 29% formaldehyde. That's your answer, you baby-killer you.
