Splatter House
« on: May 27, 2008, 05:36:14 AM »
Oh my God, I got this game expecting a cheesy 'horror movie' game something like Saw that tries to hard to be scary, but Splatter House is some screwed up ****.

This is a GAME that has me on the edge of my seat, and I can hardly play it because it's so flipping disturbing and I'm just to tensed to play well.  I almost had a heart attack when the dead bodies on hooks started dropping in from the roof.

This game is beyond fucked up @.@  Given, it's not a bad game, it's just the first game/anything to geniunely scare me since I walked in on some guy getting the back of his head sawed apart in Final Destination, and even THAT wasn't even this bad.

Being completely honest, I'm not even sure that I WANT to keep playing after reading about things like the upside down Crucifix boss and the dead fetus boss.. o.O

You know, Splatterhouse is an old game series. Which one might you be talking about?

I used to play Resident Evil alone in the dark late at night when I was eight, and didn't get scared at all. Ironically, I'm a pretty easily scared person, and was at the time too I believe (maybe more so than now).

I might be scared of this game. I never really know. Random things scare me. For instance, I think The Day After Tomorrow and Final Destination were two of the scariest movies I ever saw. Uh... thanks for reminding me of Final Destination... that was so freaky... now I'll have to be afraid some random tiny mishap is going to cause my death for the rest of the night. Oh, well, I'll get it off my mind.

The first one is the one I'm talking about at the moment.  Any one who's played the game, feel free to turn it into a topic about the series ;P

I remember completing the Genesis version. And the sequel.

I don't remember them being particularly scary though. Gory and violent, but not scary.

I know how you feel, I would play Silent Hill expecting something to scare the crap out of me, but noting ever really did.

I think the scary thing about those movies, is the fact that every two seconds something sudden and gory happens. (I never saw the second Final Destination, but I saw the first and third.) They weren't SCARY, they were just hard to watch, because they made it abundantly obvious when some of the people were going to die. (Some were a surprise though.) I seriously think the whole purpose of that entire series is to show the many ways that they can brutally and suddenly kill people, in the most gory and disgusting ways possible. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to try and play Splaterhouse, on a keyboard.

Eh.  It's a combination of the suspense and the urge to quit because the game's so disturbing.  Honestly, in a way this game tries too hard to be scary, but in another way that's what makes it scary.

Meh, maybe I'm just a coward, (WELL AT LEAST I DON'T SHRIVEL UP INTO A BALL BECAUSE OF A SHOT.) but to me, this game is geniunely scary, when it comes down to it xD

Meh.  The movie looks more like an overly violent Ghost Busters knockoff, if you ask me :\

Yeah, the Splatterhouse games are just beat-em-ups. Though, they were some of the first games to feature excessive gore (quite a while before Mortal Kombat, really.)

I looked at them a bit, and never thought about playing them, since it did look a bit freaky, but then I watched a play through and it didn't look that bad. Then again, I've seen things much more disturbing than what's in that game.

Eh? What about it makes you say that? I mean, I just discovered that a remake was being made (Thanks to this thread), but all I've really seen so far are screenshots, whiiiich isn't saying much about how it'll actually be.

Meh, as long as it is 2.5D rather than a terrible, 3D platformer/beat-em-up with the almost obligatory terrible control, I'm all for the remake.  Even if Rick looks nothing like Rick.

Speaking of Rick, why is he suddenly bald when he gets the Terror Mask? O.o
