« on: August 04, 2008, 08:39:31 AM »
I'm looking for some new bands to listen to. My favourite bands are System of a Down and KoRn, and i like Rammstein. Anyone got any idea of some bands i might like?

Well, I can help.

First things first: Orgy. I can't stop listening to them, and I've been a fan for many years. They rule.

Second things nest: Iron Maiden. You need to.

Powerman 5000. I swear to God I'll hit you if you don't.

Third things fourth: Public Enemy. They're rap, but c'mon. You need diversity. Plus, they worked with Anthrax before. That led to awesome.

There's a ton more things that are ear-bleed-worthy, but I'm farking tired.

I went straight from SoaD to Pink Floyd, so who knows? Maybe a dramatic genre shift is in order :p

If you're looking for another system of a down then I don't think you're gonna find one. They seemed to have something that no-one's managed to replicate. You can try Serj Tankian's solo project or Scars on Broadway, but neither of them really lived up to the sum of their parts.

Maybe the best thing to do is, like Gem suggests, to try and get into some more traditional metal. Sometimes it takes quite a bit of listening before you start liking something new, but that stuff's ultimately really rewarding. I recommend Metallica. There's a reason their first few albums are as revered as they are. They're brilliant.

You're good where you are. Don't listen to rap, ever. Don't become a metal geek like Gemini, girls will look at your penis and think KICK and not @$%&. Metal is good, it's the best actually, but you need to pull out before you start with the black clothes and soldier's boots.

Try Protest the Hero, that'll keep you busy for a long time.

Looks like you have nearly the same taste as me in music.

I'll go through my collection and see if I have any to suggest.

Mudvayne, Drowning Pool, Disturbed, Slipnot, Rage Against the Machine, and Godsmack are some popular bands similar to Korn and SOAD.

Dope, A Perfect Circle, and Avenged Sevenfold are also pretty similar, though a bit lighter.

You also might like Atreyu, one of my favorite bands.

Meiscool suggested some genre similiar bands you should at least check out. You should try out Dream Theater as well, no matter what genre you like they will be awesome. Any more suggestions from me im afraid would turn you into a Black clothed bootboy like Almeida mentioned :/

You mean nazis?

Anyways, if you're into hardcore, try All That Remains or Killswitch Engage, The Flaming Tsunamis. That's all I can think of right now for hardcore that I like, they've got some neat melodic breakdowns.

Other than that, I can't really think of any other bands I listen to that you might be into. You might find interest in: Rise Against, Bad Religion, NOFX, Underoath

Underoath? They're an ok band but I really don't see how they are anything like the bands he enjoys listening to.

If you like Rammstein, try OOMPH!. They're pretty much the band Rammstein tried to rip off. Maybe Eisbrecher if you wanna try it. Dethklok is a good idea.

Or you could just do a 180 and listen to some good old rock like the Dire Straits, the Who, or Led Zeppelin if you wanna be cool.

There's nothing wrong with rap so long as you stick to before '92. Run DMC, LL Cool J, Bill Bev and Devoe, etc.

Then like Lonewolf said, Drum and Bass is good, although a lot of it ends up sounding the same, so I'd advise if you look into it to grab Hold Your Colour by Pendulum. Make sure to get the special version though, because Blood Sugar is only on the basic album.

I find Dream Theater massively boring. I can appreciate their genius, but... ehh. Leaves me cold.

I'd recommend you Opeth, no matter what you're into they kick major arse.

I'm currently existing on Opeth, Steve Vai and Iced Earth.

No matter what the context, this statement is always true.

He's right, you know. Shame on me for not being the first to recommend this.
