Do you believe in luck?

Simple question with simple answers, inspired by my own stroke of luck this week.

Walking home from school, I actually found a copy of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle just lying out open in the field next to my house. Now I have something to do until I finally get a better computer next month. (Paper bags! AlmeidaChao anyone?)

Has anything ever struck you with a hope of some form of "luck?" If so and you still don't believe in it, tell us why!

Yes and no.
I do believe that Friday 13th is a very "lucky" day for me, because good things always seem to happen.
Really it's all coincidental, but maybe it is luck considering it's always on Friday 13th (found $20 at a parking lot once).

No. Luck is just a word for a low-probability occurrence, whether it be bad or be good. Chance is a better word for luck. Nothing such as a four-leaf clover, or Arabic talisman will effect that probability. Things just happen to people because they just have to happen to someone. People will die in friday the 13th just as people will win something on the seventh day of a month. People will win the a jackpot while wearing a charm just as people will NOT win anything while wearing a lot of charms. Things will just happen to people, because they have to happen. And it's not always left to chance.

Luck is just in your head. There's just probability, chance and coincidence.

I guess. I never think of it about luck. I did find a 150 dollar cd player one day walking home 6 or so years ago.

Nope.  Luck is chance with a pretty name.  More or less I just use luck as I would swearing.  "You lucky bastard" When something happens to someone, and so on.

Nope, I've been blessed with horrible karma. Unreliable/assholes family/friends, sucky jobs, not much OMG has happened and if it does happen... it doesn't last very long.

Somewhat. I believe some people are lucky and some are not, in the sense that good random things happen to some people while to others don't.

That said, I'm usually pretty lucky on bingos and that kind of stuff.

Like if I find 40 bucks on the road, I think "woah awesome."

I told some friend about this and I would of course get some "Oh, that's my brother's" or "Maybe it's mine". Of course, I kept it. I found money more than once on the ground too. An mp3 too, but I already had an iPod. I still kept it.

However, I also believe in badluck, kinda. Last year, my PSP, along with a game and Memory Card, and my wallet were stolen when I was at work, 10 or more GBA games, my GBA SP, a DS game and 180$ were stolen at home when I lived with my dad, and finally, my DS along with 6 games and a pile of XBOX games (one was mine) were stolen too.

That's not luck or bad luck. Stuff like that happens to everyone everyday. You're not special for it to happen only to you.

Anyway, I do belive in luck. I had a lot of luck strikes (no pun intended) is my life.

I don't feel special or anything, and I know I'm certainly not the only one who was robbed.
It just depend how you see luck. When something great and not frequent happens, like finding money on the ground or whatever, I consider myself lucky for being the one who found it, because someone else could've find it before me. And when lots of bad things happen to me, I consider myself unlucky. Sure, it does happen to everyone, but when it happens to someone else, that person was just as lucky or unlucky as I was.

Actually, the ones I mostly consider bad luck are the PSP along with the wallet and the XBOX game. PSP and wallet because the only day I left my bag on the ground, someone had to steal what was inside. I usually left it atop the shelf, but that day, there was no space for it.
And the XBOX game because the only pile of games that disappear had to have mine in it.
The rest is mostly living with dishonest people... but I still think about it as bad luck because all that happened the same year. Never been robbed before, so it was my year of bad luck.
