I need help from a good charset compiler
« on: January 16, 2009, 12:23:25 AM »
First of all, sorry that none of you would recognize me, I just joined the forum. I'll try to be active and help other people out.

Anyway, I was trying to rip the statue of Link from Zelda: Oracle of Ages and convert it into a charset (to save chipset space), but I had a strange issue that's difficult to explain. My charset looked good on the template, but if I set it up in my game, it wasn't aligned well, and the left half of the statue was 9 pixels away from the right half, leaving a gap in between. So, can someone take the image I have and turn the statue on the right into several sprites that can be put together to form the full statue on a map? Ignore my failed attempt on the left, just cover over that if you like. Thanks so much if you could do this.

The posted picture have had its size reduced by the hosting site.
With no option to get a link to the real picture there is no way that anyone can finish the request with the desired result.

In other words: If I copy that file: I get something about 2/3 the size of what it originally was. And therefore it's pretty much a mess of pixels and not the sprite you put there.
So try to post the picture again.

Oh yeah another good thing to tell us:
Do you want this to take the space of 1 tile or 2 at the bottom?

Preferably two tiles, and sorry about the image being too small, that was my fault. I think photobucket used to give you the full-sized image no matter whether or not you viewed it in full, but they changed that. I should be able to get the properly sized image fairly easily. Also, don't worry about transparency, I can do that easily enough.

Tell me if this works:

Yar, here she be. set up the events something like this:
[facing up][facing right]
[blank][blank]
[facing down][facing left]

the two blanks are so that your character can't walk through the middle of the statue.
oh and be sure they're set to fixed direction.

Thanks, this helps a lot! I couldn't seem to get the sprites working properly, no matter what I tried. I've ben dong a lot of ripping, though, and I think I'm getting the hang of it. Hopefully I won't have to make this type of request again. Thanks again.
