I have my thought processes, so sue me.

What if someone somewhere found a way to give a device feelings? Such as a robot or toaster. Not just random-number generator ****, I mean the stuff you see in sci-fi and all that. If you insult it, it insults back. Would you consider their feelings or would it just be another machine to you? For those that would give a crap, what if it were built to do everything you say and spoke in generic monotone? For those that wouldn't kiss your toaster good night, what if it saved your life?

For those that will only explain how its impossible, pretend it is - if you still have imaginations and dreams, that is.

If I saw any robot with feelings, I would probably consider it's them. I mean, sometime I almost feel bad for killing my own Bot allies in games. Which is strange because I usually don't care killing my allies when playing online... oh well...

I'm not sure how I would treat a robot built to do everything for me, though. Is should be noted that I'm somewhat lazy, so... I would probably make him work hard.

And I would probably not kiss my toaster good night, even if it saved my life. I would say "Good night!" probably, but not kiss it.

Depends. Does it have any relationship with me? Because I intend to treat it as I treat any other human, regardless. I don't care about them in any way unless they have some relation to me. If I were Fry, and I knew Bender, then sure, I'd have genuine feelings towards the machine. I'd care what it thought. However, if I were, say, Kiff, and the robot was the Crushinator, I wouldn't give two shits about what the machine thought.

Cyborgs have souls because you reawaken the person with machines though.

If a robot would save your life, it would not be because of morality or emotional reasons. It would be because the person who programmed it had moral and emotions and thought that the robot should act like him.
So if the creator on the other hand thought that humans sucked and that everyone should stick to themselves at a professional level : so would the robot.

And a learning bot like "Clever bot " is more like a parrot and not a real intelligence.

Asimov's robot series deals with this sort of concept in-depth. It's a series of books about a human detective who is aided in his cases by a humanoid robot that is programmed to be able to reason similar to how a human can. At the beginning of the series the detective really dislikes his robot partner and treats it like some stupid machine, but by the end they develop a lasting friendship and understanding. Like all of Asimov's works, it's brilliantly presented and feasible.

Edit: forgot to mention. If anyone knows the "three laws of robotics" seen in movies like I, Robot and Bicentennial Man, that's what I'm talking about here. Those are Asimov's laws for describing how robots function towards humans and the defintions and applications of those laws are a huge emphasis of the books.

And if that's true, then it should be manifestly achievable to create a machine that can replicate these exact states and feelings, with no less validity than the feelings we feel ourselves.

Perhaps before we ask questions about machines having humanity, we should first work out whether humans are machines.
