I think that outlines usually make a Chipset work, but these are WAY better without them!

I am in agreement. Better without strong outlines.

Hmmm... should I make a poll asking if these are better with or without heavy outlines?

Anyway, here's the MGS items set.

Going against my new outlook on spriting, I took the doors directly from screenshots of Metal Gear Solid.  The items on the bottom row are, left to right:  Ammo, weapon, ration, equipment.

And to top it off, here's the 'pick up item' sound from Metal Gear Solid.

A brick wall.

Assorted flooring, for outside.  Ground, light grass, heavier grass.

What do y'all think?

...I'm tired.  4:38 AM is a good time to sign off.

The brick wall it pretty awesome.
The grass looks kinda...odd, but it's got a certain kinda style to it.
Not saying I'd use it, but...whatever.

The grass is horrible.  I need to find a better way to draw it.

This is how it USED to look.  Even worse.

Looks like green no-slip metal.

Lol..you got a problem with green no-slip metal? I grew up on green no-slip metal...
and as for the doors, once again, I say they're better without heavy outlines. Everything is excellent so far..my mouth is watering over that sub-way chipset...or maybe that's just rabies I dunno.

I think it's the rabies...

I'm still reworking all of the slums chipsets, then I'll rework the subway.
Next will be the big city.

In the meantime:  dirt, light grass, heavy grass, asphalt, concrete and darker dirt.

I made these by drawing a large version of each tile, with bunches of grass or stones on dirt.  Then I shrank it down to 16x16.  Don't think it's half bad.

The asphalt looks kinda ew.
Rest of it looks better than before, though.

Hey, asphalt is asphalt.  It's not supposed to look pretty.  But then again, I should redo it.

EDIT:  Which one looks best?

For asphalt?
4 for detail, 3 for coloring.

For the steel, I realized that the fringes on the bottom won't work on a chipset.

You know, the roof edge would work if you put it in the top layer.  Even if that means there is less room for objects, you can always make objects into charsets.

Thanks! I'll try that.  It also eliminates the problem of having roofs larger than they need to be.
