To give you an idea, just watch this opening scene. It's not a spolier at all. The movie opens with it.

...I wasn't too fond of it.
It was...too Zack Snyder-esque.
Less subtle...

Looks like they added a lot to the scenes. I remember the fight was only shown when Rorschach's journal was being read (If i remember correctly.)

Watchmen, V for vendetta, From hell, League of extroardinary gentlemen... The guy's a genius and incredibly flexible.

Anyway, the film... I know one thing that was wrong with it. Silk Spectre 2's wooden acting. I'm not saying it was a bad movie but you can label it perfect with such a terrible piece of acting from one of the lead cast.

V for Vendetta is one of my all-time-favorite movies. I loved every second of it.

See, that is exactly what I'm talking about. Slow motion combat scenes that don't exist in the source material? Bollocks.

Slow motion doesn't exist at all. And the source material is one step slower than slow motion: No motion. They just sped things up.

I didn't mean the slow motion isn't in the source material, the entire fight isn't in the source material.

Well, what can you do? If you keep 100% faithful, there's no suspense for those who read the original content.

I haven't watched or read anything Watchmen myself, so I don't know just how this particular scene has anything to do with the quality of the movie, but it doesn't sound like it's a real issue.

Just nitpicking.

Didn't say anything like that. Arguably the most massive change between the movie and the novel is the ending- it also happens to be one of the only changes that doesn't bother me at all. What matters is the soul of the scene. This scene is blunt, snyder-esque silliness. Add a ten minute scene to the beginning of Shawshank Redemption in which the characters are sitting around making d*ck jokes and tell me it doesn't cheapen the experience somewhat.

I loved Nolan's batman films- in which practically every single detail of batman's history is overturned- because the underlying themes were still compelling. Watchmen, by comparison, is extremely faithful to the source material, cosmetically at least. But pierce the surface and it just feels like none of the original magic was preserved.

Watchmen is an above average superhero movie. But it should be a spectacular movie. Maybe that's a greedy sentiment, but I just hoped for more.

Well Red, pretty much no matter what we do there will always be the books, and then there will be the movies. No movie has ever had the complete feel or went along to the letter with the book. Its just a sad fact that any movie made of any written/graphic novel will ever do ti justice. The closest I have ever felt a movie having the same feel as the book was LOTR, these were great books, and epic movies.

Red's a pretty hardcore Watchmen fan, apparently. It doesn't stop him from being right about novel to movie adaptations, of course, though I wonder if his viewpoint is a bit skewed because of his fanboyness.
