NEW ALBUM REVIEW: (opinions, I got opinions)

Black Rose - Green Sun: Oh look, it's that song from the Rose walkabout flash. I think. It's p. good.
At the Price of Oblivion: Oh look, it's that song what the album is named after. It would appear to be a remix of uh, Hardchorale. It's alright I guess.
Even In Death: Oh look, I don't even know. But it has that drum bit from Descend, and I really like that bit. I think it's actually a subtle (or not?) remix of Crysanthemums, or whichever was in [S] Make Her Pay. I like it.
Terezi Owns: Oh look, it's a remix of Descend, right after I mentioned it. This is the one from [S] Seer: Ascend. It's got that touch of one of those other songs that I like, plus Descend, so win/win?
Trial and Execution: Oh look, it's a slower remix of the Lemonsnout Turnabout, I think is the one. It would appear to be Redglare's theme, I suppose. It's alright, though I've never been a fan of the wailing woman effect.
The Carnival: Oh look, it's a Gamzee-esque song. Could you guess? It would appear to be a remix of that song from early on, when John is getting his *** kicked by those two ogres on top of his house. You know the one. This starts slow, but speeds up in all due time. Oh god, the honking. Salright.
Spider8reath: Oh look, electric guitar out the wazoo. Vriska themed, not sure if it is a remix of anything yet. I guess I could save us all the trouble by waiting until I've listened to the song until typing but **** you, some guy. There's a little bit of MeGaLoVania in this song, I think (that's the one from when Aradia freezed OH **** ARADIA Jack, right?) Oh and there's a sample of Vriska's theme there too. Salite I guess.
Lidoff: Oh look, this is the first SBAHJ related song on an official album, is it? The song is strictly not quite SBAHJ at all, though you might get visions of Sweet Bro preparing for some unreal air in a clounless sky. Maybe. Pretty orchestral.
Awakening: Oh look, it's a bit chiptuney. I don't recognise this as anything though. Oooh it got better, that's a plus. In conclusion, it's okay.
Havoc to be Wrought: Oh look it'd been a minute and I still don't know. Reminds me of the Felt album though. Perhaps something Doc Scratch related. Shrug.
Play the Wind: Oh look, this isn't what I was expecting at all. I thought it would be more John related. MAYBE IT STILL IS? It's certainly different. Ain't really doin' me favours though.
Rumble at the Rink: Oh look, I have no words. It's a upbeat hoot and I can't help but think it's a giant injoke towards that greaserfad that took over the MSPA fandom for a week or something. I thought it was stupid. Actually, sounds a bit Jack-y. Eh.
Let's All Rock at the Heist: Oh look, synthy. It has a sample of -something- but then I guess most of these things do. It's pretty alright I guess. Oh god what is this vocals, why? I have a history of not liking vocals. These aren't as bad as say, whatever ruined DKC2's OC album, but it's no Gamebro/Nic Cage song/Don't Wanna Miss a Thing/the other one.
WSW-Beatdown: Oh look, a remix of Walk-Stab-Walk. Much faster. Probably a remix of Beatdown too, I can't remember what that sounds like. This is good though. WSW is a pretty good track. I approve.
Earthsea Borealis: Oh look, a remix of either a John track or a John tracks. I am not too fussed tee bee aytch.
Warhammer of Zillyhoo: Oh look, it's that song from the Warhammer of Zillyyhoo flash. Really a joke track and little more.
Saviour of the Dreaming Dead: Oh look, it's the one song I was looking forward to most when I saw the tracklist. Aha, it is as I suspected - a remix of Saviour of a Waking World, which is in turn a remix probably of whatever the original LOWAS track was. Unless that was it, but I don't think it was. This is pretty good. I like this one. A good track to end the album with.

I hope this is a bad universe.
But the fact that Scratch is talking about it is making me think that that's not the case.

ed: Not really 100% on the new album.
I really like the first song, and Terezi Owns, but...that's it so far.
All the rest have been meh-ish.
So, like, double meh, because it's not even really a full meh.
Which totally made sense in my head, because it's 3am.

That's one of my favourite tracks, incidentally.

Time will be reversed to a point previous to any troll's death.

I was mixed on that. It had plenty of promise, but they really didn't give us much to work with. I liked the puzzle with the first minecart, and there was some fun with what little actual combat existed, but there was so little that we got to see that it was underwhelming. Lots of hope for the full game, but for a demo that they made such a big deal about, they could have shown more.

Well, the 2 weapons thing is terrible. It's somehow worse than I was expecting.
Duke himself is still a funny one-line machine. I only played through once but I heard an allusion to half-life, and an almost direct quote from Starship Troopers, so that's cool.
The health system is worse than I thought. I was under the impression you regenerated health by killing enemies. Instead it's just the plain old hide-for-five-seconds crap.
The first level you have to make your way to the stadium and kill a big boss with one weapon. The level shows off more of the interactive side of things. Also when you throw crap at the EDF guys they don't react so it seems lacking in some places. You can't even [use] the other humans to talk to them or anything.
The second level you drive around in a car which has an incredibly shakey camera. I still haven't decided if that's a good thing or not. Then you fight a large amount of pigcops with an array of weapons instead of them just having shotguns. I guess the variety is a nice touch. You solve a few puzzles, punch a lantern only once, kill some spiders. I guess the desert is the worst part of it all. It's so uninteresting. DN3D's levels were tighter for the most part.

I just feel that they didn't show off the right stuff in the demo. They should have done one of the levels in the city with the aliens attacking. Those levels look interesting. I guess they were just too proud of the car?

Pretty much. The two weapons, while irritating, I can understand. Console ports don't have enough buttons for everything. Still, being held back again isn't desirable. The regen thing is what I expected, and I was disappointed from the start. Still, at least they took one step forward with it - Your "Ego" (shields) grows when you kill bosses, so you get more health as you go. Still would have preferred old-school health.

Really would have liked to see a few more things showcased. Jetpack, a new gun, whatever. They barely even let us use the pipebombs (which I love, by the way). I hope there's a puzzle involving them and an unlimited supply nearby.
