Well I have a friend that is very into Dragon Age right now and he says it really awesome. Like a medieval mass effect. I just started playing mass effect and its awesome as well. But from what I hear there are separate storylines for every race/gender. And it plays a bit like wow in the skills and classes. But overall I heard it was a great great game. Can't wat to play it myself.

*facepalm*
It's nothing like mass effect.
It's not in the third person perspective, and if anything, is more like a traditional CRPG.
God Rahl, wtf are you talking about.

Your buddy must not know what he's talking about.

He quite obviously doesn't.
Basically, Dragon Age is just like the Bioware/Black Isle RPGs of old. If you like that sort of thing, you will lap this up. If not, I can't really recommend it. I personally love it. And Morrigan has nice tits.

Exactly.
Mass Effect wasn't really like their old games, it was more of trying to play in something else while delivering the great storytelling that we've all grown to love.
It played sub par, but god did it kick ***.

Apparently they're hit and miss, Bioware games. Jade Empire, Mass Effect and KOTOR look fantastic and get great reviews...
but I'm kind of worried that Dragon Age will be horrificly bad. Do you think I'd like it if I said these are a list of games
that are story-driven and long? (Just to give you an idea of what I like)

Final Fantasy 10
Disgaea
HL2
Warlords Battlecry 3
All Zelda games
Fable
Bioshock
Fallout 3

It's a great game but you won't like it. If your so unsure you can always torrent it.

Well I hated Mass Effect. Worst game I ever bought. Old Stuff like Baldur's Gate and Diablo
are great, though!

It's nothing like Diablo, it's everything like Baldur's gate.

I haven't played Mass Effect, but have watched my brothers play it upon occassion.  The controls/weapon systems did seem kind of clunky and simplistic.  Beyond that, I haven't had any real exposure to Bioware games, though I might have a Baldur's Gate disc somewhere around my desk.

The pros of Mass Effect do balance out the cons, and if this game is anything like it, that should be something to consider.  Obviously, you won't have to deal with the same controls as it's not a sci-fi TPS game.  However, if your main problem was the decision-based branching storyline and that is something that has been incorporated into this game, that might also deter you.  I would look into these things very thoroughly before deciding on a purchase.

Someone else's rather sarcastic view of the game.  I wouldn't say use it as a definitive guide but something to laugh at.

CONTAINS GRATUITOUS AMOUNTS OF STRONG LANGUAGE, tho.  That's your warning.
