Ink - Quick demo now available
« on: December 14, 2009, 12:09:38 PM »
Quick little project that I'm doing while everybody thinks I have Mono.
It's technically a birthday present for a friend, but I am going to publicly release it when it's done, which should be in a week or two.

SCREENIES

These are highly inaccurate now.
The little Kyoob guy isn't the main, somebody else is.
There's now a rudimentary hud, and the blocks are just...black. Not the cool bricks here.
I'm working on a tileset though.
Also, the background changes from six different colors, but I forgot to restart it and take more screenies.

DEMO
Direct link, right click save.

PREMISE
Basically, it's a platformer/puzzler where you add in the platforms/gameplay elements in order to progress to the next level.
The engine is already fully planned out, and movement and such is stable, I just need to get music, sound effects, and finish up with the graphics and levels, and I'll actually have a finished game.

As I said, it's not quite done yet, but it's going really damn smoothly, so I should have a demo up later this week, and a full game a bit after that.

Sounds interesting. I'll keep my eyes on this.

On a sidenote: Whatever happened to Kyoob? I kinda disappeared while you were making it. Did you ever put another demo out?

I believe so, but the engine became so flooded with random crap code that I never took out that it became almost impossible to debug, so until I get around to debugging/rebuilding it, consider it dead.

Demo is up.

I know that the collisions are glitchy, there's a masking issue with the main character.

Controls:
Arrow keys/WASD, movement.
Left click, place block
Right click, delete block
1 and 2, change tile type

EDIT: Minor update, this release has a new block type and a rudimentary hud.
EDIT2: I need colors for the BG
Right now it's just me maxing out RGB values.
Feel free to give me suggestions.

Is this worthy of a CGR?

I'm not following you.

EDIT: To be more specific, it's still in alpha dude.
I really have no idea how you managed to draw the logic that the boring crapfest that I just threw up for a demo is the actual game.

Colors, huh? Perhaps you should opt to make the black sections colors as well. Just significantly darker ones.

Some pallete ideas:

...that's a nice idea.
Not entirely sure how I'd do that, but I'll try.
