The perfect game?
« on: January 20, 2010, 10:24:32 AM »
Let's hope so! Anyone heard of Brink?

It's made by Bethesda, the makers of Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Apparently, the shooting mechanics have been
improved vastly, making it look like an actual FPS! Besides the tonnes of character customisation etc that you'd
expect to see from any Bethesda game, the atmosphere looks fantastic and modernised. You're also given an
"action" button, allowing you to slide and roll past enemy fire, jump off walls and vault over fences and gates.

At the moment, it looks like a cross between Gears of War, Mirror's Edge, Fallout 3 and Portal - visually. Could it
be the perfect game, or will Bethesda make a game with glitchy shooter mechanics?

No, I am sure the system will fail to the expectations. I am so hating the character models too.

Really? I kind of like the out-of-propertion faces that the characters have. Gives it a bit of surrealism.

I've decided not to get my hopes up. Bethesda let me down with Oblivion and Fallout 3. Why would this
be good?

You keep that question in mind, til the games comes out. It's better to be surprised than disappointed.

...if you say you don't have your hopes up why are you calling it perfect?

Also, it doesn't look too special to me.
Maybe I'll rent it for a few days after it comes out.

Yeah, it sounds fun, but you know how it goes. Don't count all your eggs in one basket or something.

I've always been a big fan of Super Mario World, even this many years later. That game is an excellent blend of challenge and fun.

This smart travel system looks really silly. It's like they crossed Halo with Myst, which is really weird.

The character models look like they wanted to make a slightly more realistic version of TF2's quirky art style, but as a result, it just looks weird.

I don't get why people say it looks weird.

Never ever ever ever put your hopes into a Bethesda game. You're doomed to be dissapointed, then make the game better with mods.
