Uh... hi everyone. It's been a while eh?

Well, in my absence, I've been polishing up on my spriting skills. I'm working on an old new project, which requires a bunch of custom battle sets... and since I'm using a lot of GBA sprites, I've had to force myself to make something at least similar to them. My posing still needs some work, but I'm fairly happy with the results so far. So naturally, I want to show them off so you can rip through my giant ego and make me cry in a corner.

Sai'Kar, who most of you should know. Like I said, the poses aren't great, but it's way better than my earlier attempts at fully custom sprites.

And "Midnight", who some of the old-school members might know. Still a work in progress. For the most part, I just wanted to make a character with a really big spear (I would call her spear a naginata, even if it's not entirely accurate), and the character using it ended up looking like a battlecharacter Sai did a while back.

Right now, that's all I have, but I'll inevitably post some more. I still have quite a few sets to make, so if I'm happy with them, I'll put them up. As for my "old new project", I might post some info on it if I progress far enough in it. (It's an RPG Maker project).

So yeah. Nice to be back.

Neat. They're pretty good! Now for the ego-rip part: They are pillowshaded argh!

Also, this avatar combination is kind of creepily fitting.

But pillowshading is so easy! And it goes with any light source!

And yes, that is rather creepy.

Pillowshading defeats lightsource, especially with low contrast pallettes. Theese would be ten times better not pillowshaded, or with a high contrast, low saturation tweak. Fifty times better with both. Thats about as much ripping as I can do to your ego...

Ahhh excellent, you did a Mid too! Since apparenly Mid and I are in this project, you can consider me at your disposal. I'll help with graphics in any feasable way that I can.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. I'll definitely improve the contrast a bit, but I can't promise anything about the pillowshading.

Also, here's a few more sprites. All of them will be expanded upon later, but I just wanted to make base models for critiquing.

From top to bottom: Terra, Phoenix Wright, Edward Elric, Quote + Curly. With design liberties taken, of course.

EDIT: God damn that blond hair looks bad. Definitely need to improve that.

Shape those legs better. I'd also suggest to make them not ramrod straight unless they're right up against one another (I.E., no open space between legs).

Arms also seem a bit short. Other than that, it's alriiiiight.

Seeing Quote and curly in adult proportions just sent me off on a rediculous mental tangent.

In my mind, the beginning of "THE OC" Just played, complete with the nauseating sound track, wherein Quote and Curly, no longer chibi in their proportions, now adolescent, struggle with the social dramas of growing up on a floating magical island.

What I would do is make the outline of basic shapes much darker, 'specially on Ed and Curly.
