Lego Universe released

I have a feint memory of making a thread about this some time back...
Either way, the game is complete now and the Servers will open up within a week.
They've also released the monthly fee for the game.
It'll be $9,99 for a month, $49,9 for 6 months or $89,9 for a year.
And well, they have this chart but it was a picture but most currencies are on it and the price.
Anyway, the game looks interesting so I might just waste money testing it for the free month I gain upon buying the game.
Anyone into Lego?
You played Lego Racers?
Want to save imagination?

Well, I
was
accepted into the beta, but my graphics card died and tried to take the rest of my computer down with it when I tried to check it out. I was really looking forward to trying it out. I still might, it looked awesome, but I'm pretty much out for the time being.

Haven't looked much about it, but heard a bit. From that topic you posted, I think.
I might check, and maybe even try. I like LEGO, but just because it is LEGO doesn't mean it's automatically good. But I'll definitely take a look, yes.

So yeah. I finally got this now.
It's a pretty nifty game, different weapon types and such. There are spots with "quick build" which is basically a pre-determined creation that does stuff. Such as building a turret. Creating a fan that boosts you into the air. Build a bridge, create a button to turn of the fan.
All you have to do for those is to hold down a button. All it does is draining your mana/ Imagination.
I got my "property" as well and tried to build stuff. I became horribly aware that I need to kill stuff to earn myself some bricks. 'Cuz what I have now just won't cut it for my plans.
You can add "behaviours" to creations as well but I have to unlock more behaviours since the ones you start with aren't all that "wooo".
Combat is pretty easy, equpped items might have abilities tied to them. My shield for example can be activated and grant me 3 additional armour for some seconds. And my neat robin hood cap grants me a speed boost.
When you attack you can time your button presses to make a combo. The weapons have different lenght of comboes and different damage on different hits. Such stuff.
Also, if you'd like to build with Legos digitally and don't want to get this game - check out the
http://ldd.lego.com/download/
Digital Designer those Lego people made. It's pretty much the same system as the game - but less blocks.

Sounds awesome. I had way more fun playing lego star wars then I imagined possible. If I had the money I would consider getting into this.

I liked legos. When I was like 6-10 years old. I guess I never grew out of entirely, which is how I ended up as an engineer and an RPG designer, but the blocks themselves don't have much appeal to me anymore.

Okay some updates.
About combat.
So far I've seen no level ups.
But equipment increase certain stats and finding collectables will increase stuff like Backpack size and HP.
You have like... 3 stats.
HP -it's life dumass
Armor - kinda like the armour vest of GTA. Your armour stat determines how much armor you can collect, and armor takes the damage before your life does.
Imagination - your mana, used to Quick build creations and use stuff. Even affects how long you can play an instrument or dance.
All these things can be dropped by enemies or breakable stuff. So it's kinda more like an action game I guess.
I got a 1+ armor helmet and armour so my armour stat is 4. With my Shield ability activated I get some more stuff.
Also, there was this sword with a charge up skill - basically you hold down the attack button - which was a knockback attack. Interesting indeed.
When it comes to the factions of the games. I'll see what I remember.
The sentinels are the melee people - classes are Knight and Samurai.
The Paradox are gloomy - I think their classes were Marauder and sorcerer
The explorer's league are pirates - classes are Buccaneer and Daredevil.
And... That last err... faction - engineer and summoner are their classes at least.
I haven't gone that much deeper than that but there are some gear only possible to different classes.
Like the Buccaneers wielding dual guns and staffs for the Sorcerer.

Okay, played some more.
Corrections about the classes abilities coming up now.
Sentinels
Knight: Block incoming attacks for a few secs, increase teammates armor, shield rush, bladespin. Passive ability - Decrease damage taken when armor runs out
Samurai: Block incoming attack for a few secs, increase teammates armor, fire arrow, whirlwind. Passive ability -
protects some points of damage on party members when your armor runs out.
Assembly
Engineer: Repair teammates' armor, quick build a turret, lift enemies into the air, and build a protection around you. Passive set abilities are - restore imagination when you run out, immune to interruption while using quick build
Summoneer: Repair teammate's armor, Summon an imp, summon "scratchy", summon a taunting thing. Passive set abilities are - restore imagination when you run out, immune to interruption while using quick build
Paradox
Sorcerer: Sacrifice some health to restore teammates' imagination, cone attack, CQ knockback AoE,
Passive- restore imagination upon defeating enemy, restore teammates' imagination upon defeating enemy.
Space marauder: Sacrifice some health to restore teamate's imagination, Throw bomb, jump and drop explosion. Passive- restore imagination upon defeating enemy, shows enemies and items on the minimap
Venture's league
Buccaneer: speed boost, leap attack, summon monkey. Passive abilities - shows items on the mini map, increase the gather range of items.
Daredevil: speed boost, leap attack, slowing attack. Passive abilities - shows enemies on the mini map, increase the gather range of items.
-------------------------------------------
You can place models (completed bricks thingamajigs) and build your own models in your property.
So far I've bought 4 properties which seems to be the max amount.
I've unlocked all behaviours (that I know off) or commands as we would call them. Although I do wish there were more.
So the stuff I build can't really be used in the real world. I can only use them at properties or sell them to other players.
Cars(racing mini game) and rockets(travel to other worlds) are built by placing special models on a "frame". For example, the rocket has 3 parts - front, cockpit and back. I can put any front model in the socket for the front of the rocket ect.
Cars have more parts. There's the front bumper, back bumper, hood, rear, side panels, wheels, seat and something else.
Also, completing achievemts is actually rewarding. When you unlock them you also get an equipment, or a model, or a bag of models or bricks. Makes it a bit more worth it. Kinda like unlocking avatars in Starcraft but in-game useful stuff.

I know that every person on this forum is completely interested in this game but I will annoy you with another update on the game.
------------------------------
After some playing and even farming - I managed to complete pretty much every quest in the game. Mind you - I still have some achievements left.
It might be worth mentioning that I am an MMORPG Masochist that have an odd talent that allows me to endure hours after hours of boring/ repeative tasks. Proof of this is my two month WoW farming of 16500 gold so that I could buy my Mammoth. And I did it through Daily quests and killing stuff. No mining business.
Anyway!
I'm wearing my strongest class armour, I've defeated the Stormling Dragons (which I assume are the strongest creatures in the game so far) and I've built my castle in one of my properties. I've cleared the worlds and found all the flags and stuff.
So what's left of the game?
If you ask - I'll say: "The best part is left".
'Cuz just like Lego Racing (1&2) - the fun part isn't really the game itself - it's the building. I buy my bricks and assemble them, save them as models and keep them in my backpack. Ect ect. Great things can be made.
(The only bad thing I know is that you can't add patterns to minifigures, such as shirts, faces or shield emblems)
Thing is - there seems to be a lot of stuff under development even though the game is released. Certain areas sealed off - the plot just stopped all of a sudden and such.
But the best part is still there - building. I love the creative designer ( I even ordered what I made with that program.... silly = yes) but Universe offers a (much) larger selection of bricks and everything can be tilted and turned as well as recoloured to all colours available(unlike the creative designer).
So, the fun is in the building but the rest of the game is still fun.
But the bottom line is - if you don't get this for the creative aspect - wait a while 'till there are more contents added perhaps.
