A 8-bit hero (non-rpg maker)
« on: December 09, 2010, 11:48:44 PM »
Hello!

I'm taking a risk, but I'll ask anyway.

I'm currently developing a 2D platformer with a NES influence. My goal is to create a game in which is both charming and very difficult (ye olde NES style).

Anyway, I tried making my own character (80% Megaman influenced) but I sense that when it comes to character making with different animations It's not my field.
So I'm basically asking you guys here if you're interested to help me create a hero. If I do retrieve a hero with my desired animations I believe I can use that as a
template and later on create other characters from it. It's just that first character I'm having a hard time with.

Here's the char I made:

http://www.speedyshare.com/files/25626311/My_hero_shoot.png

Looks alot like megaman :P

My request is:

#64x64 image size
#standing still, standing still shooting left, standing still shooting right, running shooting left, running shooting right,
jumping, taking damage, death animations.
#A weapong built in arm is preferred (like megaman) or if you have some other idea of a weapon.
#only left and right (not up and down) since it's a platformer.

I'm tired, ask quesions if you like. If this is a inappropriate(spell?) place, then could you perhaps tell of a site which handles
sprite request? And I'm deeply sorry if It's the wrong place.

EDIT:
If I do get somewhere in this project I will contribute with tutorials in the C++ section in how to make games. How to start with C++ and give references
to how every part of C++ can be used in graphical games and to later on start with a 2D API o get right to buisness!

cheers~
Geocide.

It's a trivially easy request. Still, it could probably wait until you have most everything done. Having your character in a static pose while they run, shoot, slide, and what-not would look silly, but at least you'd know the game is working right before stressing too much over graphics.

Tell ya what. If you can prove you have a mock-up that actually functions as some sort of game, I'll do all the poses you need.

If you're doing an retraux platformer title, you won't need much frames in your animation.

Just throwing that out there...I can't seem to finish my thought.

Well, sounds alright to me! I always code more when I have gfx on my hands because then I visualize further in how the result would be. Looking at a character can make me come up with new ideas that doesn't even have anything to do with characters. Anyway, tell me what you would like to see as a "mock-up" and I shall try my best to deliver.

EDIT:
And ofcourse you will be credited. If you want.
