Seriously, I know this will probably weirdly  tie it somehow with Versus (modern time-esque)

With both taking place in the same universe and all. (IIRC)

But Lightning's new design is already looking like the redesigns from X-2...  A horrible entry to the series is getting an even more horrible direct sequel. Gaf, the FF series have been doomed since 7.

Never played 13. 14 has been terrible.

I think 9 was the doom point for FF.

Some, including me, will agree with you, though. Didn't like VIII. And yeah, IX was the last good one.
At least, their last was my favourite.

By my comment, I mean 9 was the last good one, not the first **** one.

I liked 9 more then 7. It took itself less seriously, and the ability system had the most natural feeling FF system to it.

I wish Square wasnt so afraid of embracing its retro appeal. It seems to like to mask it with bunny ears and convoluted graphics.

I played XIII.  I rather enjoyed it... But a XIII-2? Hasn't Square learned from that last complete fail?

X-2 really isn't all that bad. They tried something new and just failed a bit.
And since noone wanted to make the story since sequels suck they invited a team that thought that charlie's angels was a good idea for a FF story.

And well, not much to say about the sequel based on that trailer. But they better make a bunch of improvements since I rated FFXIII just above XII.
Nice look and graphics, sound was okay, never bonded with the characters and the role system. But a but too much linnearity and sci fi for my taste.

X-2 probably had the best battle system of the entire series. It was pretty fun if you ignore the utterly awful story. Anyway this wioll probably be really awful. I mean, it's a sequel to FF13. It can't not be awful.

X-2 had fantastic gameplay. If they'd put the same effort into the story it would have been fine.

Well, apart from Shuyin being a plot-hole the size of the Sun.

... didn't really like X-2's gameplay even. Changing jobs in battle was a nifty touch, but that's about it. There were too few fights for as much BSing around with minigames and cutscenes as there were.

Didn't play XIII, have no desire to play XIII, don't care about strange sequel.

Weird how this board went from FF lovers to like neutral FF fans.

I guess a lot people didn't like FF13. Which is with good reason. it sucked major bones.

Oh, I still love FF games. 4, 6, 7, and 9 are great. Even 10 grew on me, a little like a fungus, but it was there.

IX is actually my favourite. And to be completely honest I thought X was really well done as well. The characters weren't as likeable as IX I think but they were still memorable and the story and game were well crafted. If we had to choose the point of no return I'd say it's XI if that even counts. If not, then XII.


EDIT: Also VIII sucked girl balls.
