Greetings.
« on: February 08, 2011, 01:06:13 AM »
I've never been very good at writing introductory posts, but here we go:

Hey, guys. I found out about this forum through a link in a youtube video and, after lurking around a bit, decided that I wanted to sign up for it. You see, like every other user on this site, I'm currently in the process of designing a very large RPG. It is a project that I've started and abandoned many times, whether due to time constraints, real life distractions, or creative roadblocks. Recently, I've been reworking the story, though, and I feel extremely motivated to get my project started again. I'm starting from scratch as I've scrapped many of my original ideas and the game I have planned is much, much different than my original blueprint, so now I have to re-familiarize myself with RPG Maker XP as well as try to amass the resources I need to see this project through to its completion. Typically, I've been a very independent worker and have done spriting, music, etc. on my own, but my main strength lies in creating stories and riveting characters. I'm excited to be restarting my project, and I sincerely hope I don't lose interest this time as completing this game is a bit of a life goal for me, silly as that may sound.

As for me, I'm a working college student with little to no spare time, though I may be taking a long break in the foreseeable future. I'm still not sure what I want to major in. I've gone from English to music to psychology and back to English again, to give some perspective. I would really like to go into some kind of artistic career, but I'm much too practical of a person to go for a career that I have little chance of succeeding in.

That's about all I have to say. Looking forward to seeing you guys on the boards!

Let me start off by disappointing you: Many of us haven't even touched RPG Maker in quite a while. Still, we're a fun community, and, if pressed, we could help you along with your work. We also have a number of somewhat odd traditions, such as berating newcomers with rather absurd welcomes and insinuating that I'm some sort of awful sexual deviant.

I think you might be (able to figure out/horrified by) the rest on your own. Howdy.

Lol nah, not disappointed. I'd probably be using different software if my programming ability was up to snuff.  ;)

And trust me, it takes a whole lot to horrify me. I've been a member of (and contributor to) many "horrifying" forums in the past, though it's been a while.  :P

There's actually not much game making going on.
Most of the people here are here because of the other peoples.

This site is probably the weirdest game making site ever. It used to be for making games... now no one uses RM.

I am working on a project, and there are a few others. If you feel ready, feel free to tell us more about the game in the Games section.

Anyways, welcome!

Thanks, guys.  :D

Truth be told, I was randomly searching around the site last night while I was bored/procrastinating, and that Register button looked oh-so-inviting. Anyway, glad to be here.  :D

Fantastic. I hope you'll be an active member. Most people don't stay past the welcome thread for whatever reason. We're pretty laid-back people, so feel free to be yourself and do whatever. Just don't do anything too outrageous, and you'll fit right in.

We do have a habit of being about a million times weirder in welcome threads than we are in any other type of thread.

Which raises the question of why we're being so civil in this thread, rather than saying weird **** like "I smell your future, and it reeks of glue."

Trying to see if it'll increase our regular member count? I dunno. Of course, this newbie seems like the kind of person who would fit in, anyway, so whatever. Experiment flawed.
