Bruce Fox, Furry at Law
« on: February 09, 2011, 12:20:27 AM »
I saw a print ad for this guy:

http://www.brucesfox.com/index.htm

Yeah, with the creepy anthropomorphic fox portrait and everything.

Maybe he's a werefox who is courteously showing us both his human and beast forms so we'll recognize him next time we need a DWI defense.

Or maybe he just has no idea how incredibly stupid that looks.

I actually served on a jury where the defendant both refused to talk the cop without his lawyer present AND refused to take a breathalyzer test, and we STILL let him off.

...why?

Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public trial.

Yea, innocent until proven guilty. So, unless you can prove guilt (not just feel it), the person walks. Sure, there's a level of flaw, but it mostly works. And when a guilty person gets off because of a lack of evidence, I get this happy feeling inside. The same kind I get when I have a glass of orange juice.

I had to struggle with some sort of recent dyslexia difficulty I've been having. I kept typing "quilt", which won't be caught by spellcheck.

Ironically, "spellcheck" has a red squiggly line under it.

Also, I hope someone sees what I did back there.

So it does.

Innocent until proven guilty may be flawed, but it works better than guilty until proven innocent.

But what about the twist endings where, even though the accused is a scumbag, they're innocent?

...why?

I think law and legal rights here work differently then you think.

Sure, the cop will think you are up to no good if you ask for a lawyer...but the cop is not a judge, or jury.

Even saying something like "I was just passing by and I saw this dead cat" can **** you over without legal presence.

Trust Ben. I was a carreer drug dealer for years, and Ive never spent more then one night in jail. And that was because I was drunk in public.
Mind you, this was before my time at charas.
