Nintendo's new rumor console. Premiering today at E3.
Thoughts? Speculations? Anticipations? Criticisms?

Go.

I CAN'T WAIT! I've always wanted to see a Nintendo game in HD. They better show us
something exciting to look forward to. I predict that they'll have some kind of social/useless/
avatar-based thing that they dwell on for ages that nobody cares about. They'll also have to
remake Ocarina of Time. They like doing that.

Anyway, it's probably gonna be good. I looked at the rig on IGN, and it can run Crysis 2 on
about 80% settings very well. :D

I'm looking at previous consoles for game staples, and I'm gonna guess we'll have a new Mario, a new Smash Bros., either a new Zelda or a port of Skyward Sword, and a new Mario Kart. All of which I approve.

It looks pointless. Why is the controller so huge? Why does it have a screen on it? What's the point?

Nintendo loves trying to innovate with their hardware. It usually works out. Remember how stupid the DS looked with its two screens? Well, now, it's hard to go back. That bottom screen is so damn useful.

I'm excited, but I hope they've learned from their mistakes on the Wii. They need good hardware so that they can get some better third-party support, they need a complete overhaul of their online system, and they need to make sure their controller offers the best of both worlds (standard controller and whatever goofy new things they want to try).

I do fear for the price of a new controller now that they're shoving so much crap into it.

I've heard two potential names for it: the Current, which isn't so bad, and the... Nintendo. Yes, the Nintendo Nintendo. It's redundant, but I thought it was a hilarious idea.

It's official. It's called the Wii U. Kind of dumb, but if I could get over "Wii", I can get over this. The controller has a camera, speakers, microphone, d-pad, four face buttons, two circle pads (similar to the 3DS, and the first time a Nintendo home console has joystick-like devices without the octagonal barrier) two shoulder buttons and two triggers, no "L3" or "R3", and a 6.2" touchscreen. It looks like it also has a stylus. The hardware is a fair bit stronger, but I haven't seen any real specs yet, so I can only guess how much better it truly is. It looks to be at least on par with the Xbox 360 or PS3, though. The controller looks sort of like a white iPad with a controller dock wrapped around it. It shows evidence that it has a gyro sensor in it, too. Wouldn't be surprised. It also has an AC port and a device port of some sort. There appear to be wrist strap spots, too. It'll be compatible with Wii games and devices, and, along with the 3DS, will have a new Smash Bros. game coming its way.

I agree. I think if this is harnessed properly, it could be absolutely effing incredible! Just hope they don't blast us with
3rd-party pony-combing, cooking and learning games.

Wii U? That's a dumb name, but it's par for the course I suppose.

And holy god, that controller looks like a brick. It's like a friggin tablet. And can you imagine how much it's gonna cost? The Wii controllers already cost enough, that thing's gonna be like $100 a pop.

Oh my. I'm not sure if this applies to every game, or if it's a feature that some games will have, but a tech demo involving Zelda showed the user moving the map from the controller onto the TV, shrinking down the gameplay part of the screen, but also duplicating the gameplay part on the controller. Suddenly, you can play it without looking at the controller, or you can use your TV as the map while you treat it like some crazy handheld game.

Shocking.

That's...an interesting feature.
I'm curious as to what Nintendo/3rd-parties will do with it.
