So I've noticed something

We start a whole lot of threads here starting with "So -..." and "So, -..."

Is that even genuine English or just some sort of internet thing? Just go through the top 2 pages of All of all and you'll see.

I'm pretty sure it's not proper English when it comes to sentence structure. Starting a phrase with "So" makes the sentence a fragment because you state the effect without the cause. For example:

I was bored, so I went to the movies. - This is a full sentance

So I went to the movies. - FRAGMENT

"So" can also be used to exaggerate an adjective such as "The fire is so hot!".


That being said... Who gives a damn, it's very convenient for conversation and the interwebs aint 2 famous 4 using proper English... Lawls

It's generally how, at least over here, you can bring up an entirely unrelated subject from the conversation. Same thing with anyway, you throw it up and it basically says "What I'm about to say next has no bearing on the current conversation, don't be confused."

Yeah that sounds about right.
As in - that's pretty much how I've interpreted and used it at least.
