Things That Are Surprisingly Good
« on: October 21, 2012, 05:09:33 AM »
You guys ever saw something and thought it would be incredibly lame, but then been completely surprised when it turned out to be good?

Cause holy ****, Shrek The Musical:
Shrek The Musical ~ Who I'd Be ~ Original Broadway Cast

Seriously, listen to the song the whole way through and (couple of awkward rhymes aside) really listen to what he's saying and how the music is moving to illustrate the point. It really does encapsulate the idea of longing for adventure, but being bogged down by how lame reality is.

The stuff I've seen for the new Call of Duty looks surprisingly good. To put things into perspective, the series was once my favorite shooter series, but has been dead to me since Modern Warfare 2. It absolutely fucked over the PC gamers (something I most certainly am), and was a pile of **** to boot. This new one actually looks like it's trying something new for once. I also am a sucker for futuristic stuff and walking robots.

I'm sure there's something else out there, but I'll be damned if my intuition hasn't been dead-****ing-on 99.9999% of the time.

Oh, I got it: Fallout 3. I was sure that it was a disaster of a series revival, but it turned out to be pretty damn amazing in that "Bethesda horribly under-polished but loaded with content" kind of way.

I direct you to my avatar.
But that's obvious.

Most of what's popping into my head is cartoons.
Like, the Thundercats revival.
It's kind of dumb at times, but it's a ton of fun.

Dead or alive?
Its concept is really like, laughable. Emphasis on sexual suggestions, with anti-gravity boobs (or perhaps ultra-gravity) but the game itself is actually pretty solid. Like, fun to play with a bunch of friends (not pervs - friends).
Gotta say that a lot fighting games seem to be heading in this direction though.

My Little Pony.  I was dying a little inside from grown men in the military begging me to watch it for over a year. Watched a little mini marathon on TV while on leave once. Ended up watching the entire show after that day.

Dr Who. When i started watching two years ago I was skeptic. Very. But then, I was saddened by how much i have missed.

And Felix, if you like SAO the anime, you'd like the Manga a WHOLE lot more. I usually dont recommend that ever. But it's true. Its a lot more... I dont know... grasping.

I want to like MLP. I really do. The art style is great. Still, I can't get into it. I dunno. I'm some sort of weirdo.

I'm loving the walking dead episodic game.  Not that I thought it'd be bad, but I didn't think it'd be this good.

And believe it or not, I've been to see that Shrek musical >_>... I didn't actively seek it out. I saw it with my family.  But yeah, it was okay, if I hadn't been so sick of Shrek already.

Axis Powers Hetalia.  Shaddup!  I started out determined to hate it but it grew on me for some reason.
