Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
« on: November 16, 2014, 09:40:01 AM »
I've noticed a good number of you playing it on Steam lately. It's a blast to play!

What are your thoughts? Stories? Awesome builds you've had?

I'm one Sheol run away from completing the photo on the save file. I'm really hoping to get the D6, because having the ability to reroll items makes the experience just a tad bit sweeter for me.

Blue Baby? Is that the ??? character?

The game isn't very different from the original, seeing that it's a remake.

Runs smoother, hundreds of new items, new enemies, new characters, new pretty much everything. If you liked the original, you'll love this one.

The biggest difference being that I actually played Spelunky and Spelunky HD for more than an hour.

(Also, the original Spelunky was free, whereas Binding of Isaac cost money and I need to pay an additional $15 for the upgrade to BOI).

You don't need to upgrade to Rebirth, it's a separate game all together.

You do get 33% off if you own the original though.

Considering how similar it is to the original, and that the primary reason for buying it is for the additional content, I feel happy calling it an upgrade.

Why can't more games do like Terraria or FTL and just update their ****?

I'd certainly recommend Rebirth over the original.

They completely redid the engine in another programming language. Everything else is also done from scratch. It's more like a sequel even, sorta.

But then why didn't they just make a sequel?

I had a run with my friend the other day on local co-op. We ended up having unlimited free
teleports, max hearts, 99 keys, 99 bombs, flight, half damage and a projectile consisting
of a giant ring-shaped laser that we could control. Satan died in about 5 seconds.

Twas a good day!

In regards to whether it's better... YES! I really didn't like the original at all as it was a buggy, laggy
mess with lots of potential. Rebirth seems to really hit the nail on the head and is, IMO, the full
realisation of what it should have been.

You get the D6 from beating Isaac with Blue Baby. Quite easier to do, actually.

So, hm, yeah. I've got 26 hours into this game so far. Not so much compared to 78 hours on the original.

Got the D6 finally!

Boy that was tough. I have the Negative photo as well, and half of the original photo, guess I just gotta beat those bosses now before I can call it good for a while. I've clocked 35 hours so far. Couldn't recommend this game more.

Just beat Mega Satan for the first time, had Ipecac, Chocolate Milk, Cricket's Body, and Monstro's Lung.

You can imagine what happened. Literally killed the super-ultra-final boss in one hit.
