Charas Chain Game: Mystery of Spring Valley
« on: May 26, 2018, 06:19:31 AM »
It took about 14 months but another chain game is done! Great work everyone! So without further ado:

From the brilliant minds who brought you the previous chain game, Charas-Project presents the Mystery of Spring Valley. When strangeness sets upon this humble town it is but a trifle matter as Sam and Joel set upon their quest to get the most time anticipated video game of the century: Moose Trooper 11.
Along the way they’ll meet new friends, old enemies, new enemies, little green forest critters called Goblims, politicians with a knack for war, superheroines, wizards, doctors, fleshy horrors, homeless people, homeless goblims, rats, walking heads with tails?, punks, robots, mysterious merchants, owl people, pirates, hoodlums, mutants, giant pigs, tentacles, skaters, the undead, knights, bullies, ghostly floating hands, sages... and so much more.

Thanks, prpl.

The game got featured under Fresh Games on itch.io, so we're currently on the front page. So far we got 17 downloads.

Well you are my favorite of Badger's attacks Archem. ...Well I dunno I do love using "Space Invansion" and "Ready? Fight!" to enhance damage to bosses more but seeing you as a cameo attack is just as awesome.

By the way thanks for tweaking the music moose. Between thatband all the fun stuff Red added it's like playing the game 100% fresh despite having play tested this sucker a hundred and five times.

You might hate me for asking but are you thinking of playing it? :p I'd be really interested to hear the opinions of someone who wasn't involved ;)

I mean, time permitting. I've been crazy-busy with work recently, so I only have a few hours a week to myself.

Sure, no worries. We need one of our old school video reviewers to play through the chain games as they come out. That'd be awesome.

I just tried out the game and so far it is very enjoyable.  Made it to chapter two.   At the moment I am just sticking around the cabin and farming for xp and store stocks.  If the download was at 100 before I downloaded it, count it to 101 now.  Perhaps I should have looked at that if it was somewhere on the page instead of being overly excited to try out a good ol' RPG.

This game is very amusing.  The controls work the as well as  I remember RPG Maker does.  Boo is my favorite character so far.  And yes, I love digging in the trash cans.  Mutant dude! Tada dada!  The map design and graphics are delightful.  Oh yes and I sure love that Rock and Roll midi.  I really have no complaints over this game.  The fact that you have to work for those save states makes things much more interesting than just saving anytime.

The character development and story is rich.  You know that is good when you just want to keep playing to see what happens next.  I had to stop myself and make this post then get some work done or else I might be playing this all day long.

I did get stuck at the very beginning when you first meet the goblims.  I turned into the left lamp post and my controls froze up.  I was unable to go into the menu.  The only thing I could do was F4.  So I closed out the game, started it back up, avoided the lamp post, and no problems since.

Despite that one dependency I give this game eighteen claws up.  *Lays on his back and 'shashing!' all Wolverine like.  Then counts his claws to make sure he actually has eighteen.*

With your permission, I would like to post a link to the download page on my Discord server and perhaps get you a few more downloads.

You folks keep up the great work.

Ah man, I thought I had fixed that. Ah well. If more stuff comes up maybe we can patch it later.

To my understanding, you will need 29 more to top your last record.  I know a few people on my server that may enjoy it as well as a couple of people on Facebook.

I did find another bug in the third section of the crystal caves.  Unless some of the eyes on the ground are not suppose to bring you back.  This one is right there in the corner of the wall above the switch. Two squares right of the switch, and one square up.

Dude you finished it! Far out! I'm having a gnarly time rediscovering this game so far but I am a little aggro I have to put my character back in. Still totes worth it as all the old bugs are fixed and there's very few new ones. You did a mondo job this go 'round Chain Gamers!
