Complete resources firing

I've spent the last three weeks ripping graphics from two video games so I could contribute to this site...where do they go, now?

And DarkFox...please stay.  We need a little light in the darkness.


I understand the righteous anger of those whose original or modified graphics have been stolen...however, what is the deal with rips?  I know they take time and effort--I am taking my own time and effort to rip graphics at present--but since you don't own them, why get hot over them showing up "uncredited" to you?  Isn't it conceivable that others could rip the same things and put them in the same order in a graphics file?  (Or even if they actually took your rips and didn't rip the graphics themselves, I don't see what there is to get excited over.  Some very large companies could get excited over us using their graphics, but they don't.  Can't we simmer down a little?)

I also wonder if the resources couldn't be brought back up this way.  First, set up three sections of the site.
  Section One: Original Graphics.  A person who contributes to this signs a little...affidavit?  Is that what it's called?...and swears that he created this graphics file himself (or herself).  If it's later determined that this person did not create it himself, it can be handled as a serious offense, probably ending up in a banned member.
  Section Two: Ripped Graphics.  Again, you sign something that says you created it yourself.
  Section Three (MAYBE): Uncredited graphics.  These are things that have been sitting around on people's computers, whose origins are lost to time or computer crashes or who knows what.  And this is a place where people can come forward and let us know where they came from.  When you post to this place, you sign something that says, "I did NOT create this; I swear I don't know where it came from" and then anyone who recognizes the graphic--be it original artist or casual passer-by--can say, "Hey, I know where that's from!"  And the ultimate result would be proper credit, or a link to that site (assuming it isn't linking itself to RPGMaker, or objectionable material, etc.).  So it's a measure of publicity for those who post their materials online at other sites, who maybe never heard of CharasProject.  And if someone wants their graphics taken down and their link not posted, okay.  But this is better (I think) than having all these cool but unused graphics files sitting around gathering dust because of a few computer crashes or broken links.  And this covers the graphics from sites that have gone down for one reason or another, or got moved and people can't find them anymore--so this way maybe they'll get found.

Anyway, that's my idea.  Now I need a "shrug" smilie...hmm...

Look, man I've seen more Darkfox tagged onto those resources than I've seen the sun out, ever!

And if you want to help someone out, teach me how I can sprite, I need the help, I just recently got all my Rpg maker 2k stuff back, and not even that, and I finally sat down to try and piece together a game, I'm going to need help and aid from this site, and nobody'd be better than you.

I've seen your work, but never expected you here, and to think about leaving.. this is all unexpected.

I'd be honored if you'd stay to help me out, please.

...there'd also have to be something to deal with those who maliciously post materials from others' sites and "swear they don't know where it comes from" but are obviously lying...only I can't see how to deal with this.  Maybe there is no way to deal with it.  Hmm.

Okay, so most of you probably don't even know me, but I've been around here since Charas was just the Charaset generator.  Heck, I'm pretty sure there wasn't even a forum way back when, the point is  I myself too contributed mostly to the Complete Resource section and it is indeed a shame to see it go, and the whole thing with the Community Contest forming rivalries...  Well, its a contest...  There's supposed to be rivalries, its practically enevidable.  I mean, yeah, sure, Charas is having a little bit of a low right now, but its life.  I'll will get better.  We have something far too original on our hands here for it to just die out.

Now Darkfox, I've never talked to you and you've never talked to me, but never the less because I've been around this place for as long as I have I feel like I know you somewhat and I must say, your wanting to leave came to a complete shock to me.  Alex and Shady Ultima said all that needs to be said about your contribution to Charas.  If you really REALLY want to leave at this immediate time, here's my suggestion:  Just leave for a little while.  Take some time off Charas and come back, maybe in a month.  If you still want to leave then, then I speak for all of us when I say we wish you the best.

Who said complete resources are gone forever?
Yes, my reaction was (probably) terrible, but i'd like to restore it in a different way.
I already told about this some days ago.
SiKar works and everything is surely not "deleted", and will be available again VERY soon.
There will be a different way to manage completes: if i cannot trust some users, then who will upload complete must check for them.

THE IDEA
is to make the complete section available again.
But i'll give it TOTALLY to manage to someone else.
Who'd like to do this can propose himself.

Sorry, I just don't think I like the way this is going, at this rate there is nothing further I can do than post words, and words are just letters put together neatly into somthing readable. It'll get me and everybody else nowhere quickly.

Btw, hasn't anybody else noticed how all this neatly follows the announcement of the Community Contest? I don't understand why but if I... no, not good thinking.

I think that those that have been accused of theft be banned. They should be made examples of and the complete resource section should be put back up(if possible). The artists of this site need sumwhere to put their work where everyone can c. They work hard on them and deserve a lil shine.

Alex, I'm new to the forums, but I'll weed through emails such as the one you got at the beginning of this thread.

I've stopped coming here about six months back, and back then i'd fiddle with the gen and look through the completed resources....

I'd take up that complete resource job, Alex. But I'd probably need a different email account to run it from (received a virus a few months back, so I'm a little shy with regards to my email account...)

Alex, I know I'm not your first choice for the job, but I will volunteer my services to aid in the new complete resource section if/when you decide to reopen it.  I feel as though I could contribute to Charas best in such a way.

Complete section is back online, i will fix resources signaled in the first mail.

But the problem will be solved in a different way: i will post my idea better in a next post, now i just want to apologize with honest creators who spent their time to create those resources i obscured.
