The Official DOWN THE WELL AND BACK AGAIN game thread
« on: September 15, 2004, 11:55:45 PM »
Welcome to my game thread, fellow makers! My current (and first) project is an Inu Yasha RPG called DOWN THE WELL AND BACK AGAIN, which originally started as a small adventure for me and a few friends at another forum. It eventually inspired me to do greater things and make so much more than just a simple short test run game.

For some reason, RPGM2k3 and my computer are not good friends, so I  have been resorted to using RPGM2k for now (I don't really mind) so the graphics are a bit limited, but it's all there in heart and soul.

So far my game includes.....

  • Hero transformation skills
  • Time travelling
  • Dragon catching/taming game
  • Limit Break like skills
  • Japanese speaking shops/inns/etc. to add for realism

More details and resources will be posted as I go work along.

Down the well and back again? Hmm... Kagome's really the only one who goes down the well(Inuyasha rarely goes to her time), So to me it seems that your playing in Kagome's world... That dosen't sound very fun. Unless you mean like, she goes down the well and some demons escape or something like that. ANyways, I like the feature ideas. Maybe you could give some kind of story?

AKA Desimodontidae. If you're seeing this profile, Im probably at school.

If i were a clown, would you hold me when I'm down?/I wish I had someone to make me drown/So many people don't know that it's so damn hard to be a clown/I am the clown with the giant frown/My heart is in a state of being upside down...

Erm, that may add realism but it will confuse the heck of out of the people that are actually trying to play the game.

That's why the Japanese speaking shops will only be put in sapringly. I'll probably amke some sorta instruction booklet to go with it translating the Japanese.

Just stick to english speaking.
That would be annoying anyway.
Lets see, situation on this game.....
Just stepped into shop ready to flash my cash when suddenly......
They're speaking in japanese!!!
Now I've gotta minimize the game, search for the guide and look for all the bloody japanese words used in the sentences, just so I can buy some potions!!!
ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
It'd probably make players dread going into shops in every town!!
Unless you knew lots of japanese, you would have lots of trouble on this....

How would you get japanese symbols in the text anyway?

I agree too.
Like I said before mixing the 2 langauges woud be annoying but with the different langauge option, it's either one or the other....

Yes, because there's like 1000's of them and like 20 spots in the glyphy thing.
