Do any of you remember bleemcast?
« on: October 04, 2004, 02:03:31 AM »
It was an emulator for Dreamcast that let you play Playstation (commercial) games on dreamcast.

It was 100% legal. Sony took the guy who made it to court.
He won all the cases against him. But since being in court took so much time and money. He had to shut Bleemcast down..sadly.
He only made 3 games..But you could use your own PS games on the dreamcast. If you knew what you were doing.
I hope someday. Bleemcast comes back...Someday..Someday.

I thought that emulators were legal. It's roms that are illegal. I might be wrong.

Wait, like a loophole?
It's illegal to play a Dreamcast game on a Dreamcast emulator, but it's legal to play a Playstation game on a Dreamcast emulator?
America sucks.

It all comes down to your arguing power. I have no idea how he managed it, but he managed to argue that a completely absurd idea should be legal so well the opposition gave up.

Emulators are completly legal, because one can argue that, even if made for other purposes, an emulator is a great way to learn more about the physics and technology behind a system. And they can play homebrew roms. It's commercial roms that are illegal. That's how Bleem got so far.

I loved Bleam. Smo, I think I was the one who told you about that.  Well a guy on tech TV named Yoshi made something similar called the ltra gaming machine. A PC, X-Box, PS2, Gamecube, and Atari were all in one massive box.  Looked like a supercomputer.

I've known about bleem since it first came around. Tis was great. I miss it. But if I get Windows 98. I can make my own Bleem games. I still can't believe it was legal. Damn I hope bleem comes back.

Yeah I saw that thing. He sold it on Ebay for like 600 bucks. (Rip)

Whatever, in Canada commercial roms are legal if the game is no longer in production.
