Confused!!!

I'm trying to make this into a monster, but it doesn't work.  It's a PNG file... I have no clue what's wrong, can someone fix it for me?

Um, it needs to be 256 bmp for rpg maker.

in paint. Go to save as, click the box for file type, and click 256 color bitmap. Woah, your description is right.

Normally paint can convert things to PNG without color loss. Occasionally it can't when the color depth is too much. When it screws things up it tells you, so that's kind of nice.
