New download link:

Please tell me if it works.
The Barbarian character is still the only one coded.
The demo ends when you get to the castle.
You can go into the castle and find the secret dungeon, but otherwise, not much else is in there.

It's an RTP. It is the one with the butterflies (that one is important)

Seeing as how people got mad at me, I will gladly appologize for my previous comments. Thepoint I was trying to make (hopefully this postwill end this quarrel) is that games don't have tolookultrareal or super impressive to be fun. Iwasn't saying the graphics suck, I was saying that they pale in comparison to other games. I don't have a problemwith it, as a matter of fact I love the idea and originality of it (example being Coastercrazy's Stick World), so don't get mad at me for pointing out a fact. I don't sugar-coat what I try to say, but I do try and avoid nneccessary conflicts by watching my wording a bit on touchy subjects. Speaking of crude graphics, my sensationally sarcastic game, Worcestershire, will lack any and all class, graphical appeal, or originality. But the idea is to make fun of games in general. Not to mention make yo crap your pants in laughter. I suppose this is getting a little off topic, though, so I'll conclude my post with this statement: help in a pleasing way, don't judge a book (or game) by it's cover (or screenies), and be reasonable. Don't argue with a selected design if it contradicts what the creating team (or individual) wants. Though it may not be what you would do, that doesn't make it a bad idea. Live and let live.

Well Archem... whatever. Darkflood is clearly your friend, so whatever you say about him or his game is going to be good. As is, I still stand by that a good game needs good looks to complement it, and your idea of not judging a book by it's cover doesn't apply here. If a game looks like crap, which Darkfloods game is far from being crap, just and example, then regardless of how good the gameplay is, people would still have more enjoyment from the game if the graphics were improved.

Wait... Do you mean that in a good way or a bad way? And the graphics are improved... However graphics don't make the game. Look at FF7 for crying out loud!

Firstly, FF7 was a major advance in graphics.
Secondly, FF7 blows ***; ergo, you blow ***; CONSEQUENTLY, your mother.

Indeed, he is my friend, but don't you DARE assume that I'll only talk good about his games. He's heard all of my concerns and complaints involving his other works and even a few problems I saw with his pre-released demo. I simply know better than you how to give advice for improvements. Yeah, I'm good like that. But I have gone so far as to completely reject things he thought were gold. Example: his first game (although it WAS his first) felt like trash. I never got more than 10 minutes into it.I tell things straight, never with a biased twist. So please don't assume what you have before. I just think that what he has here is good, not great. But it's good enough to earn my respect. And, ask Darky himself, I'm a pretty big ***hole.

Only... hmmm, how do I say this without flaming... Only the inexperienced gamers believe that FF7 is as good as what people make it to be. You'll find very few people on here that like that game better then FF9 and etc. As to it's graphics, yeah it sucked compared to today, but that's like saying Pong had sucky graphics. In Pong they used the best avaible graphics possible, even though it was just white dots. I think this is what is mixing you up. Let me rephrase it so you hopefully understand it.  OLD games that had bad graphics compared to today are still great fun, but any new game that you'd find almost anywhere will usally have the best possible and most up-to-date graphics avaible. Your game is deemed 'new', thus meaning that you should go somewhere and find some good chipsets/charasets, etc to word with, then actually spend time making a good map. You may say your things are custom, and people love custom stuff, but I believe that more people would rather see good graphics then custom ones, you understand?

I'm starting to get tired of arguing. Not to mention bored... Why don't we agree to disagree? Darky will either make it look good when he's almost done (polishing the product, as it were) or suffer in that department. Either way, he better keep up doing better with each update. You hear me, D? Cuz I like it, but you're starting to lose some steam. Don't let this'n die, I like it too much.

Instead of the cancel key being potions, it is now the 2 key.

Once you get your first item, the jump shoes, the 3 key will switch to melee.

key 4 changes to jump shoes

key 5 changes to grapple hook

key 6 changes to pickaxe (only damages walls)

key 7 changes to lamp

when you change items the shift(attack) key will change
EXAMPLE: pressing 4 (Jump shoes) will make it so when shift is pressed you will jump instead of attack.

the lamp is the only item that can be used with another item and can also reveal hidden platforms.

Another Major Update!
« Reply #87 on: January 01, 2006, 12:15:11 AM »
-Completed the first story dungeon.
-Completed Jump Shoes item coding.
-Created 3 new monsters and the innovative boss.
-Avoided the cliche where you get better weapons in the next town.(they're just rediculousley expensive)

-Known glitches-
-when pressing [shift] in midair with jump shoes, you will move slowly. Since I don't know how to fix it, just press [9] a few times to fix it.

-New Monsters!-
EvilShrub- It will try to tackle you if it is facing your direction. VERY fast.
Zombie- Walks slowly towards you. High hp (80) high damage (20).
Chaser Zombie- Blue skinned and faster than normal zombies. It tries to attack you like the EvilShrub, but it moves slower and only deals 5 damage.

Just so you know, that new boss is the best boss/minigame I've ever played, even in professional games (ex. the wind temple boss in Minish Cap). I hope that you get a demo up soon for the new boss, assuming that the old demo download isn't updated. I wouldn't know, because my crappy lappy only has about 3 GB left, so I refuse to download it.

well, i think all of the bosses in MC sucked... the only one that gave me anything of a challenge was the giant Octorock. Are you saying this boss is like the wind boss in MC, or just that it's fun, and you also thought the MC wind boss was fun as well? anyway, the game sounds like it could be alright, i'll check back.
