Idea...
« on: December 15, 2005, 06:27:09 PM »
Well, I used to do this game with my friends when I was about 14, 15, and I got to knoe that Gamefaqs does something similar.

It "worked" (itīs so simple that "worked" seems too much hehe) like this: we wrote down our names, and then ALL VIDEOGAME CHARACTERS we knew (or could remember). Then weīd make pairs (like, Me and Ruy, my brother and Mario, etc) and the "keys" (whoīs gonna fight who) and then, for the fights, weīd throw dices. Who got the biggest score moved on to the next phase. And then we had a champion. It was an championship which consisted in a crossover between us, real people, with the videogame people...

It was pretty fun, and I thought that, since here in charas we have so many people, it would be fun to play this game. But I canīt do it alone, since Iīve no idea how could we draw the pairs and draw the fights between the pairs.

I didnīt put this in the gaming area because itīs not the real thing, itīs just an idea. Plus, I donīt know if it was done before.

I wanna see the general reaction, if people are willing to play and help me, we can make this a kind of contest, even though it doesnīt really depends on anyone's ability...

What do you people say? Letīs break the ice?

(it may be very confusing up there, so ask me any questions if needed...Grandy can help me explain, cause the big issue by now has been trasnslationg some stuff...)

Me and some of my friends did something like this i think...

Well but we didnīt use "Game characters" we created our own...
But we never got a good battle system for it...It was either a fight with a 12 sided dice or with some thing we got from a game(not computer or video...Those old-school things that you had on a table and played...Canīt remember the word...).

There was this system there... Power, Defense, Agillity, Intelligence were the main attributes and besides that it was HP and Sp.
Every attribute were good and weak against another one:
Defense->Power->Intelligence->Agillity->Defense ect.
(Agillity-Power-Agillity ect. Intelligence-Defense-Intelligence-Defense ect. Those made Draws).

If Player1 chose Intelligence and Player2 took Agility Player1 won... But if both choosed Intelligence it was the one with the highest who won. If Player1 choosed Power and Player2 Agility it was a Draw...

When you choosed you put your characters figure(that we made ourself) on a circle with little pictures saying "Power" or something. But you didnīt show the opponent your chose, you used your other hand and hid your circle and then both of you counted down from 3 and then showed...

If you had the weaker Attribute (Or if your opponent had more in one) you lost a HP, when using skills we had written the skill on a card and we all sat down and decided the SP cost... When you used it you took the 12-sided dice and rolled it. 1-3 was a miss, 4-6 did half of the damage the card said, 7-9 did the normal damage and 10-12 were the doubble damage...But not everyone had skills, and if they had the SP wasnt high and you couldnīt use many skills...

I guess that would be hard to do here because this is a forum were you only write...

(BTW: I have no idea why i explained the game me and my friend played...)
-----------------------------

Well, I say give it a try. If you start the game i will play and Iīll try to help out any way i can.

I had no idea Drace you tried it before here in Charas!...Maybe we can make this work! I just need some ideas, specially from people that knows a lot about internet! The list of character could be done in no time. Plus, we should determine, based on how many people would participate, how many non-charas people we would need (I suggest having pairs with no-charas people too, so that the game takes a huge dimension). And someone to draw the pairs and organize the "grid" (for God's sake what is it called? Key? Grid? Web? I dunno!).

What you guys think?

EDIT: Ppl_mage, I get your idea, but I was thinking about something more simple to start. I mean, the game would be based on pure luck, or the Godly ability to "throw" a dice...

People who know a lot about internet can easily come uo wiuth some random number generator or something like that, that we all have acess too...

^Iīm clueless about how to determine who wins...Ideas c'mon!!

EVEN if one comes up with a random number generator, how do we know a person isn't lying and cheating? Sounds like a lot of trouble for a simple game O.o...

I tried to do "my game" over msn, and the main problem were the cheating...We had a game...Were there was a roll system and we rolled there, took a screenshot and send it to eachother. But there was this guy using the same screenshot a couple of time so...
There is a great roll system on World of Warcraft the only thing you have to do there is to type: /roll and a number between 1-100 apear.
The best thing would be if we could put it on the forum lite something you just push and a number apear...But still just as Darkfox says alot of trouble.

as I said before, the dice is something that someone can use to cheat, and, if thi8s game had a moderator or something, he could say the results. BUT:
1.-corruption
2.-the person does not show up
3.-pancakes eat his brain
4.-if there's a lot of people, it would be even slower

Solutions would be:
1.- Suggestion? I don't know a solution
2.- A second moderator or third to take turns on rolling the dice
3.- Bring some honey
4.- More mods needed

And by moderators, I mean GAME moderators, not FORUM'S moderators, for ant brained ones.

If you mean by most that only one of them made no sense, I think that I won't earn that congratulations. Corruption is no joke, because someone can offer something to a judge or game mod so they win, the judge or player may not log on a lot of time, or this game gets to be really popular.

But yeah, the pancakes may be evil. I have had enough troubles with them for a week, some of them really painful (moraly and phisically, but don't want to talk about that).

Anyways, the pancakes are nothign compared with muffins, but let's don't get this off-topic. Any idea to prevent corruption or... any other thing that this game needs?

Note: MUFFINS ARE EVIL! How can we know that they don't have a great technology that make us think that they are not alive? And how are we sure that they don't plan to make us eat them so they make their cities on our stomach and then, if we eat enough, make us have diabetes and kill us slowly? It's a complot! The muffins control the bakers' brain to make them make more muffins! I just know it!
