okay, I'll take that. I guess it kinda pissed me off when you said posers read tabs and all that, 'cuz that's what I do. I go online and look up tabs or try and play a song while listening to it. But I guess we can do as you said, agree on disagreeing.

this is stupid, and it makes me mad....I started playing guitar 14  years ago, when I was 10....I didnt seriously learn anything untill the first time I went on the Internet, at 13.....I downloaded some Nirvana Tabs, and Chord Diagrams.....

I still have never learned sheet music, but Im a pretty Decent Guitarist today....Ive only ever played Bass in a Band...And Sung, But I never wouldhave even gotten into music if I didnt have something to tell me what the hell I was doing....
I now own a Mandolin, 12 string and 6 string accoustic, and 4 different hand percussion drums, wich I collect and Play.

I have never played in a "Gay" Band....And I honestly dont think that de-legalizing tabs are going to make any less bad music surface onto the mainstream....Quite the opposite...

Now, All of the Idiot kids will be starting more horrible bands, as there is nothing to bridge the gap between strumming out of ttenage angst and actually self-educating yourself...

I havent looked at a Tab in over 8 years....I havent had to....I only ever play somebody elses stuff when I need to figure it out to teach a friend....and I can do that better by ear than by paper......

But this is bunk.....

Artists never lost any royalties from guitar tabs on the net....If anything, they had their fanbase boosted slightly as a result....
An unfamiliar bar band is more likely to cover your song, if the transcriptionn is net available....

this is stupid.....

And seth....Dont be a jerk man....That was kindof Ignorant. Like I said, this is only going to breed more shi tty bands in the end, bro. Not everybody has the option to be educated...I went to a poor school, that never had a music program...poor an art program for that metter.....youre entitled to your opinion, but just know that its kindof biassed, ignorant and Uninformed when you word it like that......I hate all of the bands you mentioned...but I think is jerkish to say that hating those bands is grounds to remove public education resources from free access. Its not going to help anything out in the end.

Dude, I look back now, I was being a jerk kinda, but I've never had lessons, I'm completely Self taught. It did take PRACTICE to learn by ear, but if everyone can do that, there would be a better musics scene, that my philosophy.

I'm not saying tabs are the devil or anythig, but if people just went that extra mile to learn by ear or at the very least read sheet music, maybe they would go that extra mile in the writing process.

But tabs are only useful, in my oppinion, to a teacher who is a profecional teacher. that way they can just give a false sence of learning to a student.  3/4 the people that read tabs for the songs they learn, don't even understand the mathmatics of music. They dont know why songs cant jump from the key of B to D#, but if you read sheet or at least listen you can pick up on it easier.

Also, I researched it and they are trying to cut off all music learning programs from freeware sites aswell.

Well, tabs are good for beginners, you know?
A lot of metal is hard to learn by ear.

hmm, that is bad news. Playing piano for 7 years, I can read sheet music. But I did use tabs alot, it was just more visual. And the best part about music, is playing it, and it being heard,..so the way I see it, Music is for people, to share, to love, to hate etc. Everyone should be able to hear/play if they want.

Kurt cobain wasn't a great guitarist, I dunno who said that. He was a great songwriter though. Really good with melodies. and Slayers solos suck. Ah well. You guys should listen to rasputina, or Voltaire, or radio head. Stop letting metal eat your soul >:o

Making tabs illegal is like making quotes illegal. It just isn't right.

Slayer solos suck, they are completely random.
How can they ban tabs? Most of them are wrong.
And, yeah, it's not claiming it as your own.
It's not plagerism(sp?)
