Recon on possibilities...
« on: January 09, 2006, 03:14:22 PM »
First of all:

Dear Mods,

I made this thread, in this place, only because itīs recon work, to see if I should or not dare to ask what I want to ask. I want to see if there are people interested, or at least avaiable, for taking my request. Iīm NOT making a request.

Anyway, what I wanted to ask is: how many people in here would venture into making some RPG Maker XP sprites?

(if I receive positive answers, Iīll make my request in the correct place)

I'm not too fond of the XP GFX, if you could make a different style, that'd be cool. But if you're set on using XP sprites, that's cool too.

Same here. I like rm2k3 gfx more cause it resembles the snes. XP looks more like GB Advanced and IMO some games for it looks like they were made for kids cause of the gfx style.

Like comparing FFTA to FFT on the psx... FFT's suited the game enviroment more but FFTA looked less war-ish and stuff like that.
I dont know, I didnt play FFTA for a long time cause of that.

Personal opinion.

I never touched RMXP basicly because of the GFX style.

But go ahead and make a request thread as they are allowed now  ;)

I love making graphics for rmxp, or at least I like them a ton more than rm2k3. RMXP sprites can be so much more detailed, and I can make them look exactly how I picture the character, where as in rm2k3, they just can't handle much detail. But when I make gfx for rmxp, I make them 'normal' sized rather than the 'small' rtp sized sprites which I'm not too fond of. Basically they're the size of RO sprites, or maybe a bit smaller. Sometimes I use templates, but it works better for most of my characters if I just draw the whole thing freely.

Oh and another plus on rmxps graphics is that they don't have a size restiction, I always find myself splitting a single rm2k3 charset into multiple charsets because thats the only way I can display it right. I need to do this with a couple of bigger monsters and with battle poses of characters that have big wepons, in rmxp, I can fit the whole thing on it :)

Anyway, I would help, but I'm not doing anything else with rmxp until I can finish my rm2k3 game. Plus I started making my 'customizable battle system' a few days ago, and I want to finish that before taking any requests. So anyway, sometime in the near future I may be able to help you out, but as for now, I can't. Unless of course you need a dragon, they're just so fun to draw that'll I draw them anytime :p

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

No, I don't use his templates, I started making my sprites medium sized a while before he even came out with them. I made a battle system in rm2k3 that was only desinged to have one character fighting at a time, so I made the battle sprites huge, when rmxp came out I thought the normal sprites were too small, so I adapted my battle sprite into rmxp charsets. Later on I remade them all to look better. But anyway, the sprites I make are basically the same size as the kaizer style sprites, which turned out to work rather well because that meant I could download some of those sprites to use in my game as npcs or something since they were the same size and all. But yeah, the only time I've used any  templates is when I first started off, and those were the small sized templates. After a couple of weeks I stopped using them.

I donīt need many of them. I need a charset (simple, no special poses) and a Battler set. Iīll provide the templated for them, of course.

Itīs good to know people are interested, cause thereīs too much talent in Charas. Itīs a pity that Warxe, for example, donīt wanna mess around with Ruby, cause I bet heīd do misery with it.

Iīve been to a lot of sites and forums about RPG Maker XP (none of them has half the talent that charas ppl have)(although thereīs this guy, Mimesong, that makes unbelivable sprites) and Iīve seen that awesome stuff can be done with the new system, in Ruby language (like Star Ocean battle style, custom shops, etc).

Iīll post the main character in the request forum and the templates! Letīs see what we can get!
