Should there be a CRC4?
« on: January 19, 2006, 05:29:24 PM »
I was thinking. It is over a year ago we had a Charas Resource Contest, meaning, a contest where we created a resource for the generators and submit it.

But is there animo for a fourth contest? And what would be the rules like?

Main question, I repeat:

Do people like to have a fourth Charas Resource Contest? And are there people willing to participate?

For me, the rules are as follows:

Same rules apply, Alex is the main judge, though this time he might not actually be judge, more like a master of ceremonies.

Anyway, I'll make a new banner, AND I'll be judge again. Why? Because I have a special prize. It's a spot in at least Charas Breakout, but also a main role in the Charas Series, if that would ever come :P If that person already has a role, he can assign somebody else, or change his own storyline so that it is more to his likings. Or hers. Whatever.

But anyway, there would need to be other judges, who are willing to judge the resources.

Anyway, here are the rules:

We currently have three resource types. No, we are not going to create a fourth. However, both the charset and faceset have other sections too, sections not everybody has known off.

This contest will be more open. This contest will have a theme. This theme is: surprise us.

The idea:

It's like the third contest. Make a resource for a section that is not commonly sprited in. So no medium for the charsets, no left or right facing for the faceset. Battlecharsets don't have restrictions. Here too is a connectivity bonus, which concludes that if you make a resource for all three generators, and the resources is basically the same, you will be participating for the special connectivity prize.

Anyway. This time, you will have to give all it takes to make the most extravagant resource. Try to also blend in the almost-white technique. You can for example make a sort of animal suit, or something like that.

Anyway, I'm out of good ideas. Anyway, do we want a fourth contest?

Sounds good to me, even though I would not enter in it. Making resrouces other than MIDIs is not my thing. But I know plenty of other people that would do this. Let the 4th CRC begin! (I say)

That's what I'm fearing.

In my opinion, the CRC is mostly to not only improve your skills, but also gain skills if you don't have it. Even if you lose, you always have the experience.

I've just recently been practicing spriting (well, really doing it for a history project), so I would definitely enter this. I'm learning.

We should have another, it's one of Charas' biggest events.. We need Alex though, for the update on the contest/results page.

If there's enough Charas people interested, go for it. And if not, maybe we could post on a couple other RM forums and see if anyone's interested there.

Here's another idea. If we were to involve other RPG Maker sites into this, we could actually add another prize, the Site Quality prize, or just the site prize. This will combine the total quality per site and see who is the winner. It's like in the Seni competitions in Pencak Silat in my place. There are individual prizes, but also school prizes. Each school representative will give out their annonymous votes. In this there are two administrators from diferent sites to check if there won't be any cheatingzors.

This way, we still have a sort of community contest, but only a bit smaller and thus better to execute. Now the diferent sites don't need to have their members cooperate.
