Ok, first off, if you're one of them lazy people (like me) who skips right to the screenshots, let me just mention this before you do your skipping. :p I need characters for my game, so members here can submit characters to be put in my game. I have more info on it after the screenies :p You are now free to skip, although it would be nice if you at least skimmed through the rest of the info.

STORY

Ever since humans were born on the earth, they have been in constant conflict with the dragons, who have had the world to themselves for ages. As a new age dawned, it caused a change in the world. People were able to change the enviornment to their needs, through this they gained an advantage over all other creatures. Though dragons where natuarally stronger than humans, they weren't the all-powerful beings that many games portray them to be, and through the humans greater numbers and advanced war machines, they were able to put up a fight against the dragons. As the hatred for eachother began to grow more and more, a new race of sub-dragons where born known as the Shinro. Writting from this era has been lost or destoryed, but the stories tell that the fighting stopped shortly after the arival of this new race, thus it was assumbed that the shinro were the cause of the peace.

But now, after thousands of years, the true shinro gene has been lost, and the true identity of them forgotten. Battles have been faught between the two races, as theres always been, but its mainly been small skimishes and not actual 'war'.

 Dragons range from thier normal quarapedal forms to the bipedal shinro forms. Social status and rank came from how close one was to having the true shinro gene, though the system also favored those with power.

Then the battles grew more intence once again, though by clever negotiating between the key figures on both sides, the fighting was slowing down. It seemed as though both sides realized the benifit of peice and cooexistance. However from the shadows, a forced urged the battles on. The head of the dragon army, Vorthon, brought full scale war as he lead his forces to massacre the small village of Nikki. When world reached the near-by city of Audian, the humans launched a counter strike. The small island with Nikki, Audian, and the dragons' cave became the center point of an all out war which would determain once and for all the planet's dominate race.
 
Sry'yxhad, was part of an eliete group of soldiers known as The Dragon Sword Masters (new name pending), The Dragon Sword Masters are basically the generals of the dragon army, let by the yellow dragon Vorthon who is said to be almost pure Shinro. Though during the raid on Nikki, Sry'yxhad turned on Vorthon and the other Dragon Sword Masters in hopes of stopping an innevitable war. His efforts were in vain. As punishment, his wings were removed and he was locked away in the dungeon for seven years, but most of all, his soulblade was hidden. A dragon sword master's blade is forged from their very soul, thus when his soulblade was removed, it as if he had lost his spirit, and in hand, his will to live.

All that changes as a group of human soldiers penitrate the dragons' cave. A few soldiers venture into the dungeons, killing off the guards, they come upon Sry'yxhad who is all chained up. As one of the soldiers holds a sword to the dragon's neck, Sry'yxhad hears a mystious voice in his head. He can't understand what it's saying, but it gives him the stregnth to break free of the chains and fight back. After the battle, Sry'yxhad puts the thought aside as he goes off to defend the rest of the cave. After succeeding, his punishment is lifted...

But what exactly are the Shinro and why did they apear, why is the war being dragged on, what is the shadow behind it, what was that voice Sry'yxhad heard, and how will the war end? It's all up to you...

Character Profiles:

Sry'yxhad
Race: Dragon
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Sry'yxhad was one of the 4 Dragon Sword Masters in command of the army. He has always had doubts on the fighting, but simply followed the orders of Vorthon, the commander. After his 'betrayal' he was stripped of his wings and soulblade, and sentenced to the dungeon for life. However, during the attack, he escaped and help fend off the humans, for this he was given a second chance.

Kyruto:
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Kyruto is a relitively young warrior that used to be in the Audian defence corp. However, he was inflicted with a certain ailment and banished himself to the forests around Nikki. Through his hardships, he has learned the values of peace and working together. Thus when he comes across Sry'yxhad, he joins him in hopes of ending the war. Though he still keeps his desease as a secret, hoping no one will discover the horrible truth.

Yara
Race: Human

Gender: Female
Age: 18
Yara is a Dragon Slayer hired by Audian, who soon becomes a commander of the defence corps. She thinks all dragons are inherantly evil, and thus wants to kill as many as she can. Thoughout the game she fights Sry'yxhad and party, and soon realizes she may be wrong after she isn't killed off after she loses.. twice.

Other Stuff and Features

A big part of this game is that it won't be a linear game. After a certain point, you can choose where to do and what to do for yourself. Well eventually you'll have to do certain things to move on, but the order in which you do them is up to you. You can also choose which side to fight on, the humans, the dragons, or you can remain nutrual. There'll never be an actual message that pops up saying "which side do you want to fight on", you're actions will basically determain this. No matter what path you pick, the endings will pretty much end the same way since I'm planning on making this a prequal to a differant game I was making (SilverFire).

You won't need to play This game to understand SilverFire, and you won't need to play SilverFire to know how this game ends, but playing both will be have its advantages. SilverFire takes place in the aftermaths of a war, this war. If you beat this game you'll get a password (the password will  be differnat depending on how you beat the game). Then during SilverFire you can use that password to travel to this island where you can do a bunch of cool things, including gaining Sry'yxhad's armour.

Battle System - I'll be using my 'customizable cbs' in my game (which shortly I release to everyone :)), it'll include animated monsters, timed hit attacks, limit breaks, combo attacks, stealing, scanning, mid battle party changing system, and an ally system. There won't be any critical hits or misses, or at least they won't be random. When you attack, you'll have to press the spacebar at the right time, if you're way off, you miss, if you're right on, its a critacal hit. If you've ever played Legend of Dragoon, it'll have a simular targeting system. Combo attacks are powerful attacks prefromed when two or three particular skills are preformed back to back. The same as in BOF4. And the ally system is my own invention. Ever play a game and fought a monster that you didn't want to kill? For me its dragons, as you have probably guessed by this game, I like dragons. In a lot of games, i go around, all of ths sudden this random dragon comes and attacks me, and what, I'm forced to KILL it? No fair. So in this game, besides running away, you can ally with monsters. If you ally with a monster, you can get some cool things such as items, advice, or even skills. You can also try and ally with bosses, major bosses won't ally with you, but the "end of the dungeon" can be allied with. Those bosses will give you more rewards if you ally with them, and some may even trigger a side quest. The downside to allying with an enemy is that you won't gain any exp, and you won't get the normal drop.

Monsters won't drop money either, they'll drop like a hide or something, and then you can go to the fur shop in town and trade it for money. Seriously, why would a random monster carry money with them? Human type enemies though will drop money like normal.

Mini Games
Yeah, there'll be a lot of mini games in here. Some are simple, some are very complex. One is a whole new battle system where you fly in the air and shoot down targets in a 3d environment kind of. THere'll be 8 dirrectional movement, pusing the left or right arrows will turn your angle, pusing the up or down arrows will make you go higher or lower. And well, you fight some battles like this.

Custom CG movies
I'm working on making some custom 3d movies for my game. I'm doing some practicing, but I'm not very good yet. Chances are I won't include any in the demo version, but I should have a few for the final version.

Voice Overs
Theres gonna be voice overs for all the party members in battle for all their moves and such. I guess like in Star Ocean 2. There was only voices for in battle stuff. This will be the same way.

Custom Message system
I don't use the defult message system because I think its too big and takes up too much of the screen. It also enters and leaves the screen differantly than the normal message system.

World Mini Map
Yeah I have a mini map on the world map like in most comercial games.

Shadows
I take a screenshot of my towns and such, draw in shadows, remove everything except the black, and desplay it as a picture, the result is neat looking shadow effects on everything. I only do it in towns, for other maps I just use generic shadows, fogs, or light effects.

Custom GFX
All my charaters are either custom made or edited for the game. I also include a varitety of poses for each one to give the game more life.

SCREENIES!!!
If you're like me, you've skipped right to this section and didn't even bother reading the story or anything else :p A lot of these screens aren't actual 'in game' shots. I've decied to finish all of the maps in the game before moving on to adding any more gameplay. So yeah, most of these are actual maps and not part of the actual gameplay.

This was from my old version where the town was called Megatown, it was a contrest entry game, so I didn't really care about the town name, but anyway, its changed now. The world map is also a little better, the screen is just meant to show the minimap and the other stuff that pops up when you get close to an area where you can enter.

CHARACTERS NEEDED

I need characters for my game, roughly 5-7. See, how my game is set up is that there is 3 main characters, and 7 secondary playable characters. The other 7 playable characters are characters that will only join your party if you go down a particular path in the game or do some action. Other characters, will join your party for a little while on certain missions, and leave later on, but you can do actions to keep them in your party or get them back later. In the end, there'll be 3 secondary characters and the 3 main characters in the party. You won't be able to get another one of the 4 characters unless one of your current members leaves the team. Each character will have their own background story and mission, I have it set up like this so that the player can play through the game multiply times and each time he/she will experiance something new.

But there is a problem, and this is where you guys come in. Each of my characters needs a voice actor for actions in battle. Finding voice actors can sometimes be a pain, so this is what I'm doing instead, if anyone wants to have a character in the game, they can submit a profile. By submitting a profile, you agree to voice act for that character, or have ALREADY found another to voice him/her for you. Along with a description of the character, you'll need to include background information, and a mission that their on. The mission can be whatever like searching for a cure for a friend or maybe to find a treasure or hunt down a bandit, it should just fit with your character. And I reserve the right to modify their mission and background to fit better with the game. This will NOT be a first come first serve deal. I'll pick characters that are better suited for my game, and mainly original ones. I'm not going to pick 7 guys with big swords to  be the characters. I believe character diversity is a big part in any game, so again, if a lot of characters are very simular, I'll only pick one of them. I'll also need both human and non human characters. Here is the format in which I'd like submissions. Note: It is in your best interest to include all information on the character, if their age is unknown, say unknown, but also tell me the actual age. Its hard for me to put a character in the game when the fields are 'unknown' to me as the creator :p

Gender: (I know it may sound wierd, but if you're a guy and want to have a female character, go right ahead. I have a program that will modify male voices to sound like female voices, it works very well. It doesn't work too good for female to male conversions though.

Class/Occupation: (swordsman, black smith, mage, etc.)
Physical Description:
Include eye color, hair color, hair style, cloathing style and color, body build, and whatever else you can think of.

If you would just like to voice act for a character and don't want to submit a profile, let me know, and I'll assign you to one of my own secondary characters, or you can voice act for an enemy or boss if you would like.

I use AV VCS Gold, though I don't know how to save any files, I can only play them in real time with the effects. I'll have to play around with it more.

Oh, and thanks Dragoon for including a Limit Break, I completely forgot about mentioning that :p

Your useage of pictures to create shadows is amazing. This certinly proves that hard work easily differs the bad games from the good.

BTW, WTF is up with the name "MegaTown"? :p

XD thanks.

Once upon a time, this project was a contest entry. The contest was 'World of [TR] members" TR standing for the site (Tantalus Resources). So I was going to make a game that was basically a town full of mini-games as you walked around with me. Thats why the hero used to be called DragonBlaze. Since it was a contest, I didn't care about the town name, so I just named it Megatown, for obvious reasons, its been renamed to Audian. I didn't get around to making the picture file of the audian name, so it still says megatown when you walk up to the town on the world map (which also went through a makeover since I took that screen).

Class/Occupation: Thief/Spy (Spies as he works for upper class people)
Physical Description: Green eyes, light brown hair that droops a bit over his face, dark gray/black long sleeve shirt and pants, slender build (though I don't see how that could change from the same style charset). I can make this charset if you want.
Personality: Quiet and elusive around humans (where he normally is anyway), but is quick to speak with a dragon when he sees one (he can often tell dragons even in disguise)
Background info: He sees his own kind as corrupt by their rulership and how they single out groups they are against. He decided on this from three main events in his life. At one point, he had seen a friendly person of another race (no, we aren't talking about skin color here obviously) attempt to talk to an upper-class human who then immediately pulled a weapon. The second event involved similar circumstances, and the third event involved dragons before the war, who were forced away. When the war (which he saw as inevitable) first started, he was completely for the dragons, as he understood how they would be so upset. But when he saw human towns that hadn't done any wrong get attacked, he felt that the dragons were making a poor choice of strategy. So basically, he supports the dragons because he feels they aren't treated fairly, but is against the dragons' plans.
Goal/mission: To find a way to make peace between the dragons and humans with less casualties.
Weapons: Double short knives
Skills with descriptions:
Tetrastab - moves quickly to stab the enemy twice with each blade
Flame Tetrastab (Sry'yxhad combo) - Same as tetrastab but with an added fire bonus from Sry'yxhad's fire breath.
Conceal - becomes shrouded in mist from a smoke bomb in order to dodge enemy attacks more often
Charging Stab - holds both knives together and gets a running start to charge into the enemy, where he then stick them straight into the enemy and slashes them through the enemy to pull them out
Limit Break:
Assassinate - disappears in a smoke cloud and secretly swiftly attacks the enemy to deal high damage (I was also thinking of throwing in a randomizer for a low chance of even instant death?)

If the info about my character doesn't really line up with the story (about his feelings), just say so and I'll tweak it.

I didn't have time to really read through coaster's and dragoon's replies before I made my first one since I was on the phone when I typed it and just got off now :(

Anyway, I don't think I'll be using BLOOD. When I said a new name, I meant like some made up word that 'translated' would mean Dragon Sword Master. I didn't want to use the term Dragon Sword Master as 'the actual' term because I find it corny and kinda blah. Blood also sounds kind of like an evil term and all, and the Dragon Sword Masters or the dragons aren't evil at all, the actual war was inevitable, and it was both sides fault. Though Vorthon was the one pushed it over the edge. Thanks for giving it thought anywayz. :)

Oh, and your comment about the character's build coaster, it doesn't matter for the charset, but it will matter for the large sprite overlays I use in battle if you remember them from my previous cbs. Plus I'll use those as facesets. :)

If you do have a charset, you might as well submit it. Same goes for anyone else who submitted or is planning to submit a character. If you don't have one, thats ok, if I use that character in the game, I'll just make the charset.

Heres examples of the large sprites I make for the characters, note that Kyruto's is just an edit from a KH sprite, don't know what character though. Sry's and Yara's are 100% original.

Heres an example of how the sprites are used in battle, when skills are preformed, the large sprites are displayed over the character (semi-transparent), and they preform the skills. Note that this is my OLD CBS, not the one I am currently using.

Jon is what Sry'yxahd call's him not his real name.
Being a wolf you just need wolf noises.
He can learn other skills from other Wolf/Dog kind monsters.
