Characters with certain outlines.
« on: March 15, 2006, 03:51:10 PM »
I'm having trouble finding characters without outlines, so basically, I want you to post whatever character sets that you don't mind other people having that you know about/have. All they gotta do it look sorta like the one I will post below. Meaning, instead of a black outline in most places, there is just a darker shade of the color it's outlining.

Thankyou.

Once I was lost and afraid. I had to have resources exactly how they would be in my game. Then I found her. MSpaint. She allowed me to change the outlines of my charsets to whatever I wanted. Join the paint train, my brother.

Yeah, it's really the simplest form of editing.
Just take all your charasets into MSPaint.
Or if you're one of those new age iDraw hippies.. just die already.

Takes to much time, I have to make all my other resources and rips and etc, I really dislike making sprites.

Or you could use paint shop pro (free trail version).

It can swap colors. Changing the outlines of your charsets to a darker shade of another color in just a few mouse clicks. (It does it for the whole charset in just one click.)

Patience? Bah! Who needs patience? I can do it all in about a minute! I just need the paint bucket! Simple! Exclamation marks!

So what, you spend a little extra time on your game. It's called effort. You put plenty of it in your maps, so I think you know what I'm talkin' about. Besides, why should I go through all my charsets, spend time postin' them on photobucket, just so you can save time?

To be blunt, will you guys all just stfu? I'm not being n00bish, I'm asking a simple request. I put plenty effort in my games, and if I can take a short cut, I do it. I'm completly aware that I could use various paint tools to do this task, but I'd rather spend my time coding, mapping, and making resources for my on-screen menus. If you're not going to help, then don't post.

Sorry man. Wasn't trying to judge you.
Anyways, I try to use really dark shades of the colours that part of the outline is touching. If it's all one colour and too light it can seem flat.
