A shading practice gone right?

Well I was practicing my shading when this came out well it looks like some stairs from a royal palace maybe i'll add some gaygoyles or somethng!

It looks like you failed at pillow shading, the worst and easiest form of shading. Try again.

When will people realize that using a gradient for shading does NOT look good at all?

And I mean all of you. Try making the stairs smaller, and use maybe one light, one medium, and one dark shade for each color. And don't make it bars, but use it to add texture to the stairs.

gradients are cheap are on a small scale.

and the flaw in the stairs is that i don't know where I'm seeing it from. you need a single light source, or to go study some stairs.

For that situation. Depending on what you shade you need to do it differently. Bluhman, you dithered, but he really wouldn't need to do that.

I suggest making the vertical parts of the stairs darker than the horizontals.
