Yeah, that was pretty crappy, wasn't it? Plus no summonable Aeons... meh. I don't agree with a lot of what you said, but in this I am in complete agreement :D

FF7 is overrated because the cliche characters appeal to little kids. Tifa perpetuates negative body images, and Aerith is like Mandy Moore's character in A Walk to Remember.. you know she dies, and you can't wait for it to happen.

LOL, omg that was so true!!

Probably because not one of us can agree to anything worth a darn...  I agree with Omega Weapon on his starting this topic...  I also like his idea that I quoted...

Anyway, I like FF7 & FF9... in my opinion, FF8 was lousy...

Here's an idea...  release FF3(the real FF3, not FF6), and re-release FF Mystic Quest, in the same package...  They could call it FFR, as in "Final Fantasy Reloaded"...

*Prepares to be flamed & trolled by the people who don't like MQ*

*Hasn't even played MQ, and therefore has no idea why he's only heard bad things about it*

Yes! Final Fantasy Mystic quest was also of good quality. Although it was for kids the music was great!

Omega Weapon just tried to search for the best midi mix of Doom Castle but can't find the URL anymore. It does not have those overpowering tinkle bells play so loud.

We are very glad to see healthy discussion, which in itself demonstrates how unique the Final Fantasy series was.

Has anyone given thought into making an actual Final Fantasy with RPG maker? Many would probably not out of hesitation. No one wants to be called pretentious for trying to create an FF game but calling it FF would give the project a scope. Final Fantasy games have a flow to them which could guide any maker out of writer's block

But about Mystic Quest - what if the maps and everything were re-created but the battle system was like FF games??? It would be a great 'mix' of a game.

NEVER make an FF game with RPG maker. Even if it is good, I promise you NO ONE of value will play it. Mostly cuz people try to make the games EXACTLY like the originals, but with different names. You might as well just create your own name, not "final fantasy strategies advance". People already know that the game will pertain to FFTA.

And Mystic Quest is your prime example on how not to make an RPG.
Example:
*Random Guy Pops Up*
Quote
"A girl name Pheobe will be important to your quest"

Five more minutes of game time:
*Random girl pops up*
Quote
"Whats your name?

Quote
"Pheobe"

Quote
Really? I'm coming with you!

Honestly, if I saw something like that in A Blurred Line or Kindred Saga or Shichimenchouken, I would freak. The rape scene in Shichi was enough.

FF6 - Well generated story, lovly characters. FF9 - Lovable and heart-warminmg characters.

Tie

FF5 and ff3 - Awesome jobs, didnt like FF3's job system much though...

Tie

FF4 - Lovable characters, great storyline... should be up there with 5 and 3... oh well...

Not tie..

FF2 - Wow... I just completed this game and it sorta... Took over FF7's place. This was really amazing. The Dos version was incredible. It makes me want to play it again!

FF7 - Well developed characters. Didn't mind Sephiroth and Cloud much though.... Tifa all the way! She can kick aerse... or should I say Aerith...

I say meh to the other FFs... FF12 could Take FF7's place again.. but I hope not. I am tring to like FF7 as best as I can... Its just so hard...

(Never played FF11 or X-2... Or the tactics series. I like Crystal Chronicles though, but never reeally played it)

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was a good RPG in our opinion and sometimes it is best to look from the perspective of a player and not an artistic designer.

Could sir elaborate? This sounds like all people try to do is please and impress other game designers.

I tried to start on one but lost my motivation for it.

You found Bahamut challenging!?! Damn, I think it was the easiest one. Just had to cast Reflect on everyone ( if some died, just revive them ) and Bahamut's Mega Flare reflected on him.

FFMQ wasn't really good... Battle system and map were bad... Some good music, though, but other FF have better music.

Also, I wanted to make a FF on RPG Maker only because I used FF graphics.

It's Aerith. Beats me how come they changed it to Aeris.
I wish you could choose whether to play on the side of the good guys or the bad guys in a FF game.

I wonder if I'm the only one who beat Bahamut without using reflect. I did it such a ridiculous way though. I just timed Kain's jump so he would never get hit. Everyone else died, but I was just focused on winning. Though in the end, I wish I had known about the reflect method so everyone else could have taken in part in the massive amount of experience.

Top 3, in order:

1: FF7 (Mainly cuz it's the first FF, and RPG, mind you, I ever played. It stuck with me, and is the part I relate to, and love. Otherwise FF8 would probably have been in this spot)

2: FF8 (More realistic, and the relation between Rinoa and Squall was heartbreaking :( The story impact on this one was far greater than FF7, if you don't count the apocaliptic feel in FF7 with Sephiroth/meteo and stuff. And junction rules!)

3: FF5 (Loved it. even though the story was a bit cliche, the system was frikkin awesome. It was, unless you count FF1/FF3, the birth of the class system that was used in FFT and FFTA, which I love. Exdeath was amazing, even if he was a cliche as ancient evil awakened again, and his 1st henchman, Gilgamesh is one o my alltime favourite characters - great music theme also)

Other parts were great, but none really I love as the 3 I mentioned above. Had a great time playing FFX, and FF6, but never got into FF9 at all :P

Don't mind the typos, I'm drinkin BEER!
