try making the ACTUAL background of the PNG transperant, rather then simple clicking the "Transperant" box

Dont know if RM supports it, but it would look better without the overlay tranperancy.

I think the idea is cool, but youre gonna have to find a way to stretch your DBS lower window a bit upward, otherwise it will be too small to keep the attention of. the window content clutters an already small area.

It sucks that 2k3 is so restrictive

I tried making it directly transparent first, but it's only transparent sometimes, and otherwise black. I set the background color to gray, so it doesn't really alter it except for making the saturation lower.

Another taste of the battles. Does it look good?

Took me some time, but I just spotted the hero's feet right under the green selection thing. Sneakly little bugger...

I understand if you say you want it to seem confinded, it'll give a new view of battles. But putting them right under the menu like that will pretty much over up most of the action. Especially if you think about having more than one character in the fight at once (If you even want that) then the entire view of the battle will be completely clustered...

Why not just have the characters up in the middle of the screen, like any DBS, except box out the rest of the Background. It'll still seem confined, and the player will be able to see everything then. Because it does seem kind of rediculous to have a still picture take up most of the screen, while the more important characters and enemies are covered on 1/3 of the screen.

My unconventional idea for a battle layout. It may look like the DBS, but I'm using it in a different way, with a code system for casting spells. Any concept art links would be appreciated.

I'm gonna be ocmpletely honest, it looks cool, but it's completely impractical. Do the characters even move at all?

I'm gonna go with no. 2. The grate looks a bit better than generic dirt for a modern/SF setting.

Yeah, definitely leave the ceiling black. Any area that the viewer shouldn't be seeing should be black.

Oi. And here's something relating to Dragon Fantasy II. It's a 14~ second clip showing the new Final Boss death Sequence I whipped up this evening. I wanted to add some more life to the battle, so I shoved this in there.
