Even though you're a little psychotic, you make a good point. Though I think most everyone realizes RPG Maker is more of a hobby than anything. Atleast for me it's just a hobby. This is the closest almost everyone on this forum will come to the real thing. Because let's face it, the real thing takes a team of people to make, that's why making an RPGMaker Game takes years and years for one person. Imagine if someone attempted this from complete scratch? It'd be almost guaranteed failure unless they were one hell of a protigy (sp?) That's why RPG Maker is so great, cuz it gives atleast some sense of possibility.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, RPG Maker is for fun. You've got to do it for yourself, cuz in the end, RPG Maker in itself is just a game.

Thanks gael, even though you type like you're on speed. I agree with dren. For me, this is a hobby. It's a cool hobby since you have to do so much (music, architecture, art design, literature, etc.), but it's mostly fun for me.

To be honest Meis, I'm trying to stop my game from looking like yours. Remember, I get my mapping and overall graphic skills from you. I don't want my graphics to be compared to yours TOO much. Also Meis, we each have our own fanboys. I'm not sure, but have you heard of Khold? He was supposed to be my 4th Beta-Tester:

Khold
He's been a rather supportive guy. He's even been helping me with my storyline, battle system, and art direction. We each have our own fanboys *looks at Mako.

With that being said, I'm trying to make this screenshot.

It's supposed to be part of a war-city. It's that same Archadia a few pages back. It still looks a little wierd to me. I know everything is in proportion. It needs something extra. I'm mostly looking at that back wall next to that small dock. Keep in mind, it's not finished yet. Yes, it will be an actual screenshot.

Blame the chipset as I can add pretty much anything, if I don't have to sprite it. Am I using gold too much? Should I switch it to silver?

If you're wondering how this city, the realistic beach, and the tower can possibly flow, you'll have to see it in-game.

Trust me. :D

Looks to plain to me. And the railing doesn't go with the walls. I like the water effect you've got on the sides of the walls.

What are you talking about?
« Reply #664 on: September 19, 2006, 09:31:49 PM »
The rails are the same color as the wood. The colors COME FROM THE GAME. I think they go well together.

No mapping advice...yep. I'm a little surprised you like the water splashes. That stuff is pixelly.

Now for your map. I hate the map, hate the chipset, LOVE the lighting. I don't really like the white window light from the bottom left going up like that, but the rest is cool. I'd say just use some still water instead of flowing water. The water moving like it's deep seems...wierd.

But the map isn't that great.

It's a hallway with lights under the piping. It's like he's doing what I used to do (getting around the mapping with "flashy special effects"). He steals ideas. _sweat_

Arcanagirl, that was cold...

You're actually not too bad. lol

I'm guessing you're just starting out. You've got most stuff in proportion. except for the big stone bridge, it makes sense. RTP is good to practice with, but it's like...pain in your eyes. . It's just boring. Replace it later.

My 2 cents. Any extra?

BTW. I pretty much threw out that chipset and map. I agree. It is boring. I'm making a much better one. I'm actually going to sprite for it. :p

Not that many cathedrals out there, other than Mac & Blue.

Tip of advice for the bridge. Hold down the shift key while placing the tiles. The program thinks that the bridge is 'land' and you can see the grass between the side of the bridge and the water. If you hold down the shift key, the water tiles won't 'change' and the grass edge won't show up.
