make a custom overlay for it. Greenish mist, and make sure it fits the room well (ie rooms shape) and it will look splendid

Just for the love of god, dont just slap on a fog over the whole screen

Also, its not really a screenshot if you photoshop it man. I dont think 2k3 can support 1533 colours in a chipset.
If you want it to look impressive, do so in the mapping, and not with photoeffects

I'm aware these don't appear to be hella impressive...but consider they're made out of poor village (obviously edited), dark forest, and road chipset. These two maps took a full day (although that's including events and stuff).

I love the holes in the walls but there could be more old/broken furniture in the room. Now it's kinda empty.

The building looks really tall, but really skinny on the inside. O_o.. I agree with what Red Fox said, but also try adding a bit more to the outside of the building too.  It seems kinda empty there with mostly just the path to look at in the middle part of the map.

Cool! I'll take the exterior comments into consideration.

I want to add more broken furniture but even by adding the dresser I was pushing it, since no one has lived here for 700 years and everything would probably be fertilizer by now...not to mention that that book would be dust...shhhhhh. >.<

But I guess if I push it that far, maybe I should push it further and add some old chairs? What do you guys think?

The holes in the walls and floor are really great additions, but if the place is 700 years old, you may want to consider breaking it down a little more than that. Consider: Broken floorboards, dust/dirt buildup, broken furniture, scattered old/disintegrating papers, stagnant water, etc. The list goes on, depending on the background story.

But I love that hole in the wall effect, how did you do that?

Thanks! I'll add that in.

And as for how I did it, I edited a screenshot in photoshop then improted it as a panorama :). It's how I do a lot of the crazy stuff in my maps. Shhhh

Okay, well, I've been trying, DESPERATLY to get better at mapping, as it's one of my major weaknesses. So, here a before/after picture of the Monu Tribe, the first place you start at in my game!

Monu Tribe Before:

Monu Tribe After:

I think I'm improving... at least it looks decent now, and not just a huge block of green that I called trees. Any ideas on how I can make it look better? (I'm not sure if I did the tops of the trees right...)
