Btw, irfanview can do the same as ultimate paint and all those other programs mentioned. It makes it pretty easy as well without any screw-ups.

I'll bother to Google it on a computer where I can DL stuff.

Prpl. which is better? Irfanview or Ultimate Paint.

I can't use photoshop for working with pixels.
I can do so with Fireworks though. I wish I had a pirated version of it....

...What? I do all my pixel art on photoshop. They have a pencil tool, you know.
Yea, I just like the simplicity of Fireworks. At vocational school, we didn't use Photoshop until the last project. So I'm more familiar with fireworks.

To be honest; never tried ultimate paint.

What I like is the simplicity of irfanview. No fancypants, no special options or such.
It's mainly to decrease colour depth, rotate things, swap colours and such. More like a picture editing program than an actual "make the picture" program like photoshop. On the note of photoshop. I've never managed to make it give me a transparent background to sprites and such without screwing them up somehow.

I only learned how to make it not mess them up like two days ago.

So I've been playing around with RPG Maker lately, and I found some old resources I had made long ago for an abandoned game that I'm sure no one remembers, for it was long before I even made a new username... anyway, I decided to pick up on the game again, only this time with all kinds of crazy re-vamped systems.

This game is still in the very early development stage, however the HUD system is pretty much finished and working good. Here is a screenshot of it:

*Note that the map and monsters have nothing to do with the game, they're only there because I wanted to show the HUD relative to the full game screen and I have yet to create some maps of my own. Everything will be more "RTP-cartoon-ish", like the guy you see standing there in blood-splattered clothes...

Here is a breakdown of what is going on in that HUD (it might seem a little confusing at first, all will be explained through gameplay, however):

You are able to change weapons by pressing the 1 number key (non-keypad), and fire with the "Shift" key. Shown there are all 5 acquirable weapons; you will also get a few melee weapons, but those have nothing to do with the HUD.

Let me know what you think of this HUD, aesthetically or otherwise. I am open to suggestions or improvements.

Cool HUD... I briefly tinkered with the idea before and gave up.

It probably doesn't matter to someone who is already playing... but I can't really tell what the weapon icons are supposed to represent.  I see what looks like a shotgun (highlighted) and some sort of machine pistol.  I found simplified drawings are better than resizing a high-def picture.

Other than that, it looks good.  Possibly get rid of the hatched HUD background and make it a solid color...

Just how I might clean it up somewhat...

I'd also move the MAX next to the current ammo, just so there isn't all of that space that seems empty for no reason.
Better yet, you could just use a Ammo=#/MAX format, so you can just look up at a glance and see if you need to reload any time soon.

Alright, I know alot of my maps looked blocky.
But I realised, I can only make my maps as good as the Tileset lets me.

Here's my old cave tileset

Here's the new one.

Here's a map made with the new one. Still WIP

Some things look a bit out of place, and personally I think you should add a vignette or some sort of effect to the map to improve the atmosphere. Other than that, its needs a bit more detail.

EDIT: After writing all that, I realized you said it was a WIP. Dammit.
