Raising a cat
« on: July 27, 2006, 05:37:49 AM »
I recently (2 weeks) found a kitten, and I'm really not sure how to raise it well. Right now I have a litter box in my room, and it's pretty good at using it. It also sits with me often and sleeps in the same bed as me. I feed it regularly and fill its water bowl. Go ahead MRMR and say I'm not a man for liking cats, but they're quiet.

My main question right now is - it tends to bite me a lot. Is that its way of playing, or does it dislike me? Its not hard bites, but that could be cause its a small cat.

New kitties means Oooog is one step closer to KROMPRETE VURELD DOOMANARSHUN. You seriously should raise it on dog food. And make it play with bones. And other dog things, because it would be really cool to see a cat that acts like a dog. Ahhh, I can just see it coming now...
Cat:BARK! BARK! GLRUUUURGHHH! *chomp*
Shady:Oh my god! It bit that guy's leg off! Cool! I mean...oh no. Or something.

Cats normally bite softly when they play, unless playing rough.
Cats only draw blood on accident or when they attack you.

I would be more worried if it claws a hole in you when it plays.

SO far sounds like your raising it just fine.

I raised many kittens, and it sounds to me you got the right idea oh caring for pets. :flower:

If it's a kitten and bitting you alot that prolly means it's still teething or whatever. Get it a few teething toys and it should be fine. Doesn't mean it will stop bitting you, but ya know. When my dog was a baby, she bit anything she could get her teeth on (me included lol). It will pass when they get older (prolly).

Yeah, it's growing it's teeth in.(Ouch!)I think that 'Orzo' should teeth on rotting, raw flesh. That'll help it. Possibly flesh from other cats. A cannibal cat that thinks it's a dog, and is called Orzo the Destroyer would be very intresting. I'll watch what happens.

My cat's like 3 years old and she still bites when she's playing with your hand or whatever.  She even bit my massive nose once...  but anyways, just keep it fed, hydrated, and entertained, and it should be fine.

Ah I have all your needs fulfilled. Buy it some catnip XD nah I'm playin. You have the right idea of rasing the cat right now. But all I can say. If it's female then you should have it fixed when it's old enough if there are other cats in the neighborhood. Unless you want more cats that is.

Aww, how cute! I love cats, I got myself one. Her name is Danuza and sheīs quite big already (big means fat in this case.)

Anyway, hereīs the deal:

Cats are clean. Dogs ainīt. So the cat wonīt pee and **** near itīs food and vice and versa. So the "pee pee cat" gotta be away from the food and water.

If it bites you, it is kidding and playing with you. If it gets all "haired" up and make scary noises (like "fssss" and "awrrrrr", itīs taking you as an enemy. Stop doing whatever you're doing to it.

If you live in a place with a lot odf movement and cars, please, sterelize (sp?) the animal. If it is a female, itīll get pregnant and have lots of kitties, which is good at first, but will become a plague in no time. If it is a male, itīll fight other cats for a female, and might die in the process. Also, the cat that has been castrated (sp?) wonīt leave the house and willl become more tender. Male cats will be like female, and female will remain as nice as ever.

Anothewr reason to take the female's uterus off is that when sheīs on her period, sheīll scream like hell.

If the cat starts to pee and poo in the wrong places, itīs because the litter is dirty, or itīs trying to catch your attention. Be nice to it, and itīll be nice to you.

Males get a lot of kidney stones. So the hard ration (the one that comes in a bag) all the time will accelerate the process. Give it plenty of water (never force it to drink) and change the ration from the hard one to the...puddin like one (i mean the one that comes in a can and is wet and looks like real meat)

Cats, despite of dogs, have a lot of self respect, and wonīt ever put the tail between itīs legs. So never hit it, no matter what it has done. Having a cat is more commiting than having a dog, cause cats can climb the most unthinkable places, and drop the most expensive  stuff. It wonīt accept the name you gave it, and itīll never answer by it. He's it rubs itself in your leg, it means "I own you" and not "I like you". Donīt misunderstand me: the old preconcept that cats only like the house and the food is a freacking lie. But itpīs true that cats never bow to humans.

Itīs a good pet, cause it makes you company, itīs fun to play with (ask a pet doctor how to cut the cat's nails, youīll enjoy not having your hands pierced all the time...but DO NOT CUT THEM YOURSELF!), itīs quiet, clean and have lots of personality.

As I said, treat it good, itīll be your big time friend!

All cats usually bite at first, you just have to disipline it.  Unfortunatly, I neglected to punish my cat, and well he is 25 pounds bigger so....yay, boo-boo on my families behalf.  All you really gotta do is give it attention, feed it, and stuff.  It's actually quite easy.  Just, since it's a kitten, keep your eye on it frequently.  My cat is 9 years old, so I don't have to watch him much because he pretty much only sleeps.

Anyway, have fun with your new kitty kitty.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, and even though oooog said it already, itīs always worth saying: the cat will sleep 98% of the time.

I think if it bites playfully, not hard then it might be playing with you. Or maybe it's just hungry?

lol, I always loved puppies,  they're sooo cute, but then when they get older it's like meh. . .

Oh, and if it starts clawing the ground beneath it in a Gental nature, it is called Nursing, it means that the cat feels comfortable and is about to sleep usually.... Nothing to worry about.

PICTURE PLEASE!!!!!!
